This itinerary works especially well because the hotel side of the trip is quite flexible. You can keep the Hong Kong stop comfortable without spending luxury-hotel money, then enjoy better beach value once you continue to Phu Quoc.
For the Hong Kong part of the trip, we used 3 December to 6 December as a sample search and found very well-rated 4-star hotels from around €140 per night. When travelling as a couple, that works out at approximately €70 per person per night, which is a very reasonable starting point for a short Hong Kong city stay.
In Hong Kong, location matters more than hotel size. For a short 3-night stop, it is usually worth staying somewhere with easy access to the MTR, restaurants, Victoria Harbour, Central, Tsim Sha Tsui or Mong Kok, depending on the style of trip you want.
Search Hong Kong hotels →Phu Quoc is where the accommodation value gets even more interesting. Compared with Hong Kong, well-rated hotels and resorts can be more affordable, and you can often find very attractive options from around €120 per night.
For a 9 or 10-night island stay, this makes a big difference. You can choose between beach resorts, boutique hotels, pool villas and quieter areas depending on whether you want nightlife, family-friendly facilities, romantic beach time or simply a relaxed base by the sea.
