This is one of those multi-city fares where the itinerary is
genuinely more interesting than a simple return ticket.
Starting in Milan, you can spend a few nights exploring
Muscat, continue nonstop to
Thailand for around three weeks, enjoy a final
four-night Dubai stopover and then fly nonstop back
to Milan.
Even better, all four international sectors are
nonstop and operated by
Oman Air and Emirates.
Oman + Thailand + Dubai in one journey.
Arrive in Muscat early in the morning and spend several days exploring the city, Mutrah, the Grand Mosque and the surrounding coastline before continuing east.
Three weeks gives you enough time to turn this into a
real Thailand itinerary rather than simply staying
in Bangkok.
Combine Bangkok with northern Thailand, islands, beaches or an
overland journey through several regions.
Finish with four nights in Dubai before the nonstop Emirates flight
back to Milan.
The afternoon departure on the final day also leaves time for a
relaxed morning.
The dates below are examples rather than a fixed package.
Because the flights are booked separately, you can
shorten or extend each stop according to your own travel
plans.
Want longer in Oman? Fewer days in Thailand? A week in Dubai?
Search around the reference dates and build the version that works
best for you.
Oman Air also operates a nonstop Muscat to Phuket
flight and we found it for roughly
€20 more than the Bangkok option.
This can actually create an even better itinerary:
start in southern Thailand and gradually make your way north before
eventually flying from Bangkok to Dubai.
Instead of backtracking, you could build a route such as
Phuket → Krabi / southern Thailand → Bangkok.
6h15 nonstop.
The late-evening departure is useful for a long-haul flight and
allows you to arrive in Oman at the beginning of a new day.
20 kg checked baggage + 7 kg cabin baggage
were shown on the Oman Air Economy fare.
6h05 nonstop.
The main downside is the early 08:40 departure, which means leaving
your Muscat hotel quite early.
The late-afternoon Bangkok arrival is otherwise convenient for
checking in and beginning the Thailand portion of the trip.
6h45 nonstop on the Emirates A380.
This is an excellent schedule for the Dubai stopover:
depart Bangkok in the morning and arrive in Dubai early enough to
still enjoy much of the first afternoon and evening.
6h55 nonstop on the Emirates A380.
The 15:15 departure is one of the nicest parts of the itinerary:
there is no painfully early airport start and you can still enjoy
breakfast and part of the morning in Dubai.
25 kg checked baggage is included on the Emirates
fare.
The schedules are the same for both examples. Each itinerary is split into one Oman Air booking and one Emirates booking.
Oman: approximately 3 nights
Thailand: approximately 20 nights
Dubai: 4 nights
Oman: approximately 3 nights
Thailand: approximately 20 nights
Dubai: 4 nights
The Milan-Muskcat-Thailand flights and the
Bangkok-Dubai-Milan flights are purchased separately.
Normally that deserves extra caution, but here there are
multi-day stays between the two bookings, so there
is no risky same-day self-transfer.
The important point is that if one airline later changes or cancels
a flight, the other airline is under no obligation to modify the
separate ticket.
For that reason, I recommend confirming
both flight bookings before arranging non-refundable
accommodation or internal Thailand transport.
The Economy fare shown included
20 kg checked baggage,
approximately 7 kg cabin baggage and a personal
item.
This is particularly useful for a trip lasting almost four weeks.
The Emirates fare includes
25 kg checked baggage.
That makes the overall €733 headline considerably stronger than
many low-cost or light-fare multi-city combinations.
The Bangkok version at approximately
€733 is already an excellent deal.
However, if the Muscat to Phuket option remains only around
€20 more, I would personally consider paying the
difference.
Landing in Phuket allows you to begin in southern Thailand and
gradually work your way toward Bangkok during the three-week stay,
rather than flying into Bangkok and potentially travelling south and
back again.
Either version remains highly customizable, so use the dates above as
a starting point rather than treating them as a fixed package.
An unusually strong multi-city itinerary: three destinations, four nonstop long-haul flights, two excellent airlines and checked baggage throughout for around €733.
For approximately €733, you get four nonstop long-haul flights, Oman Air + Emirates, checked baggage throughout, approximately three nights in Oman, around three weeks in Thailand and four nights in Dubai.
The two Emirates sectors are also scheduled on the A380, which is a very nice bonus at this price.
The ability to replace Bangkok with nonstop Muscat to Phuket for roughly €20 more makes the deal even more flexible and opens the door to a natural south-to-north Thailand itinerary.
The only meaningful weakness is that the journey requires two separate bookings, but because the tickets are separated by long stopovers rather than a tight connection, that risk is much easier to manage.
Dino Score: 9.3/10.
There is no single hotel combination that works for everyone on this trip.
The itinerary is deliberately
flexible, so use the dates below as a starting point and
adjust the number of nights in each destination to suit your own plans.
We recommend booking accommodation separately so you can compare
locations, ratings and cancellation conditions in each destination.
The reference October-November itineraries work particularly well with approximately three nights in Oman, around three weeks travelling Thailand and four nights in Dubai.
For a short first visit, look for accommodation with convenient
access to Mutrah, Old Muscat or central Muscat.
Three nights are enough for the Grand Mosque, Mutrah Corniche,
souq and several of the city's main sights.
If you want to add a desert, mountain or coastal excursion,
consider extending Oman to four or five nights.
We would not recommend booking one Bangkok hotel for the
entire three-week stay.
Use the long stop to explore several parts of Thailand and book
accommodation as you move around the country.
Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Krabi, islands and other regions can
easily be combined depending on your interests.
Four nights work very well for a first Dubai visit.
Areas such as Business Bay, Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina
and Al Barsha can all work depending on budget and what
you want to see.
Dubai four- and five-star hotels can become expensive during the
pleasant winter season, so compare several areas before booking.
The example itinerary is not a fixed package.
You can shorten Thailand and spend longer in Oman, extend the Dubai
stopover, or keep almost the entire trip for Thailand.
When searching hotels, simply change the check-in and check-out dates
to match the version of the flight itinerary you decide to book.
Where possible, we prefer
free-cancellation or flexible accommodation rates,
particularly when the flights themselves are being booked on separate
tickets.
The nonstop Muscat to Phuket alternative can make the
accommodation plan even more interesting.
Instead of starting and finishing your Thailand trip in Bangkok, you
can arrive in Phuket, stay several nights in southern Thailand and
gradually travel north before ending in Bangkok for the Emirates flight
to Dubai.
One possible structure could be:
Phuket → Krabi / southern Thailand → another island or
region → Bangkok.
This avoids unnecessary backtracking and lets you experience several
very different parts of the country.
Use the hotel search below separately for
Muscat, your chosen Thailand stops and Dubai.
Start with the reference flight dates and then adjust the stay length
according to the itinerary you want to build.
The suggested stay lengths are based on the reference Milan-Muscat- Thailand-Dubai-Milan flight combinations and are intended only as a trip planning guide. Accommodation is booked separately from the flights. Hotel prices, ratings, room types, cancellation policies and availability can change. Always verify the complete reservation details before payment.
