Why this fare works + important details
A 09:00 departure from Dublin, 09:00 arrival into Hong Kong, and only 1h35 in Abu Dhabi each way make this itinerary very efficient. At around €1,587 via Lastminute or €1,745 direct with Etihad, the pricing is excellent.
1. Business Value: Etihad's €1,745 fare is Business Value.
It includes 35 kg checked baggage, but airport lounge access is not included.
2. Business Comfort: upgrading costs +€299 and adds lounge access,
free seat selection, free Wi-Fi, UAE Chauffeur, 40 kg baggage and more flexible refund conditions.
3. Lounge reality in Abu Dhabi: the AUH connection is only 1h35 each way.
After deplaning, walking through the terminal and allowing enough time for boarding,
I personally would not expect to enjoy the Abu Dhabi lounge to the fullest.
If lounge access is the main reason you are considering the Comfort upgrade,
look again at the schedule before paying the extra €299.
4. Return timing: the Hong Kong departure at 20:20 is excellent,
but the 00:35 arrival / 02:10 departure in Abu Dhabi interrupts the night's sleep.
5. OTA vs airline: Lastminute saves roughly €135–€160 versus Etihad direct.
For a Business Class booking I would still seriously consider paying the modest premium to deal directly with Etihad.

Booking options
Cheapest option on the dates checked. Confirm fare rules, baggage and all Etihad sectors before payment.
Check lowest fare →For only around €135–€160 more than the OTA, I would seriously consider booking direct. Value includes 35 kg baggage but no airport lounge. Comfort adds the lounge and other benefits for +€299, but because the AUH connection is only 1h35, I would not upgrade purely for the Abu Dhabi lounge without checking the schedule first.
Compare and select Etihad →Hotel-night counts below deduct the outbound night spent onboard.
Excellent price, clean one-stop routing, very efficient connections and highly usable departure times. The main deductions are the interrupted overnight return connection and the stripped-back Business Value ground benefits.

Hong Kong is compact by big-city standards but the neighbourhoods feel very different. For a first visit I would normally choose Tsim Sha Tsui, Central / Sheung Wan, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay or Mong Kok. The best choice depends on whether you want skyline views, nightlife, shopping, local food or the easiest access to the main sights.
Hong Kong hotels can be compact, so I would pay close attention to room size, MTR access, recent reviews and harbour / city location. A cheaper hotel that requires long transfers every day is often false economy here.
Where to stay in Hong Kong
For a first trip, I would personally lean toward Tsim Sha Tsui for the classic Hong Kong experience, or Central / Sheung Wan if restaurants, nightlife and Hong Kong Island are the priority.
How long to stay + trip ideas
If this is your first visit, I would not rush it. Hong Kong works very well with a few slower days for neighbourhood food, harbour walks, hikes and outlying islands rather than treating every day as a checklist.
Where to go next
Macau
The easiest 2-in-1 addition: heritage, food, resorts and a completely different atmosphere across the Pearl River Delta.
Lantau Island
Big Buddha, Ngong Ping, hiking and beaches — easy to do without changing hotels.
New Territories
Hiking, villages and a much greener side of Hong Kong than most first-time visitors expect.
Shenzhen
Very close geographically, but entry requirements depend on passport and current China visa rules — check before planning.
Taipei
A natural short-haul add-on if you have one of the longer fare combinations and want a second major city.
Airport + practical notes
Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) is on Lantau Island.
The Airport Express is usually the easiest option, taking roughly
24 minutes to Hong Kong Station and slightly less to Kowloon.
Taxis are convenient for door-to-door travel, but journey time can vary with traffic.
The reference Etihad itinerary arrives at 09:00, which is excellent for using most of the first day,
but your hotel room may not be ready yet. I would choose a hotel with luggage storage and ask about early check-in.
The return departs at 20:20, which is also very good — you can still use most of the final day before heading to the airport.
Useful Hong Kong tips
Stay close to an MTR station whenever possible.
Hong Kong is very easy to navigate by public transport, and the Octopus card is useful across trains, buses, ferries and many shops.
Do not underestimate walking distances in humid weather, especially when routes include steep streets or elevated walkways.
For skyline views, try both sides of Victoria Harbour rather than staying only on Hong Kong Island or Kowloon.
