Mexico City
from €1,632 return
About this deal
This is a very strong Business Class fare from Lisbon to Mexico City. The headline OTA price is €1,632 return with lastminute.com, while Aeromexico sells the same reference itinerary directly for €1,703.25 even though its own fare does not appear in the Skyscanner seller list.
My preference is the direct-airline option. For only about €71 more, Aeromexico gives you the airline relationship directly and the fare shown is Premier One Classic, including 2 × 32kg checked bags, a 15kg carry-on, Premier seat selection and changes for a fee.
I deliberately chose the 10–25 March 2027 itinerary as the reference. It has longer Madrid connections than some alternatives, but it lands in Mexico City at a much more civilised 18:45 instead of around 05:00. Sometimes the shortest itinerary is not the one I would actually book.
Aeromexico direct: €1,703.25
Long-haul cabin: Premier One · 1-2-1 full-flat
Checked baggage direct: 2 × 32kg
Carry-on direct: 15kg
Reference stay: 15 nights
Reference flight schedule
Aeromexico ticket · Air Europa operated · 17h total
Lisbon 07:45 → Madrid 10:00
3h30 connection
Madrid 13:30 → Mexico City 18:45
The connection is longer than on some alternatives, but the 18:45 arrival is far more practical than landing around 05:00.
Aeromexico ticket · Air Europa operated · 15h25 total
Mexico City 21:50 → Madrid 15:40+1
3h15 connection
Madrid 18:55 → Lisbon 19:15
A very useful evening departure from Mexico City and a normal evening arrival back in Lisbon.
Premier One product + baggage
Some cheaper or shorter combinations get you into Mexico City very early in the morning. I would rather accept a few extra hours in Madrid and arrive at 18:45, check into the hotel normally and start the trip properly.
Always recheck the operating aircraft before payment. The reference flights show a 787 with 1-2-1 full-flat Business Class on the long-haul sectors, but aircraft assignments can change.

Booking options
Only about €71 more than the headline OTA fare, but you book directly with the airline. The shown Premier One Classic fare includes 2 × 32kg checked bags, 15kg carry-on, Premier seat selection and changes for a fee.
Search Aeromexico direct →The cheapest verified option on the reference dates. It saves roughly €71, but at this difference I personally prefer having the airline as the direct point of contact.
Check Skyscanner fare →For this deal, Aeromexico was selling the itinerary directly even though it did not appear among the Skyscanner sellers. My rule here is simple: check both before paying. If the gap stays around €70, I would book direct.
Open Aeromexico homepage →These prepared searches cover late January through early April 2027. Prices can move, so use the links as live searches and then compare the exact same flights directly with Aeromexico.
Outstanding Business Class value. A proper 787 full-flat product on the long-haul sectors, excellent baggage, sensible travel times and a direct-airline option only around €71 above the cheapest OTA. The longer Madrid connections keep it from scoring even higher.

Mexico City hotel playbook
Mexico City deserves more than a rushed stop. For a first visit I would normally aim for 4–5 nights: enough time for the historic centre, Chapultepec, museums, neighbourhoods and one day trip without turning every day into a race. With the longer March itineraries, you have plenty of room to add Puebla, Oaxaca, San Miguel de Allende or even a few beach days elsewhere in Mexico.
Mexico City hotel prices can move a lot. Check the same room with Karma switched on before you pay — and always compare the final total, not just the nightly rate.
💰 Dino hotel booking method
Choose your neighbourhood first, then shortlist hotels with strong recent reviews and the room type you actually want.
Leave Karma active while you browse so it can check whether the same stay appears cheaper elsewhere.
If Karma finds nothing useful, make one final like-for-like comparison before paying.
⏳ How many nights in Mexico City?
Possible, but you will only scratch the surface and will probably have to skip either museums, neighbourhoods or a day trip.
A strong first visit with time for Centro Histórico, Chapultepec, Roma / Condesa and a few major museums.
My preferred balance: enough city time plus Teotihuacán or another excursion without rushing the rest of the trip.
Great if you love huge cities, food and museums — otherwise I would start adding another part of Mexico.
📍 Best areas to stay in Mexico City
One of the easiest first-time bases: restaurants, cafés, nightlife and plenty of atmosphere without feeling purely touristy.
Leafy streets, parks and a relaxed feel. Excellent if you want somewhere pleasant to return to after a long day exploring.
Very practical for first-timers, with good transport and easy access between the historic centre, Chapultepec and Roma.
More polished and generally more expensive, with upscale hotels, restaurants, shopping and easy access to Chapultepec.
🌎 Where to go next
Puebla · 1–2 nights
Close enough to work as an easy side trip, with beautiful architecture, excellent food and a much smaller-city feel.
Oaxaca · 3–4 nights
A brilliant food-and-culture extension with markets, mezcal, historic streets and strong day-trip possibilities.
San Miguel de Allende · 2–3 nights
Colourful streets, rooftop views and a slower pace that contrasts nicely with Mexico City.
Guanajuato · 2–3 nights
Hills, tunnels, colourful architecture and a compact historic centre that works well on a longer central-Mexico itinerary.
Yucatán · 4–5 nights
Fly to Mérida or Cancún and add cenotes, Mayan sites and warmer weather to a city-heavy trip.
Pacific coast · 3–5 nights
Puerto Escondido or another coastal stop can be a very good finish if you want beach time after museums and city exploration.
⚠️ Mexico City practical tips & precautions
Mexico City sits high above sea level. Take the first day a little easier, drink plenty of water and do not be surprised if stairs feel harder than expected.
Use normal big-city awareness in crowded transport and busy tourist areas, and keep phones and wallets secure rather than casually exposed.
For late arrivals, luggage-heavy journeys or unfamiliar areas, use established ride-hailing or official transport rather than improvising on the street.
Use bottled or properly filtered water for drinking, and be a little more careful with food and hydration during the first couple of days.
Teotihuacán, food tours, museums, lucha libre, neighbourhood walks and day trips — useful for adding a few organised experiences without turning the whole holiday into a package tour.
A few useful extras chosen with premium-cabin travellers in mind — from quality carry-on luggage and reliable mobile data to travel rewards that can add extra value before, during and after the flight.
A much better fit for premium-cabin travel: sleek hard-shell luggage
designed for frequent flyers, short business trips and smooth airport
handling.
