Kuala Lumpur is one of the best-value major cities in Asia for upscale accommodation. Well-rated 4 and 5-star hotels can often be found from around €70 per room per night, so the jump from a basic hotel to something genuinely luxurious can be surprisingly small.
For the first nights of the reference 29 October-10 November Malaysia trip, our pick is Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur on the Park by IHG. It combines a strong central location, rooftop pool, modern design and excellent reviews, making it a very comfortable place to start the trip before moving on to Penang, Langkawi or another part of Malaysia.
For this itinerary I would start with around 3 nights in Kuala Lumpur. You arrive at 19:45 on 30 October, so the first evening will mostly be for getting to the hotel, having dinner and recovering from the long journey. Three nights then gives you two full sightseeing days plus the arrival evening before continuing through Malaysia.
A very good balance for the reference trip: enough time for the main city sights without using too many of your 11 hotel nights in one place.
Worth considering if food, shopping, rooftops and city life are a major part of the holiday.
Plenty of time to combine Kuala Lumpur with at least one or two additional Malaysian destinations.
If you are going to start a Business Class trip to Malaysia in style, Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur on the Park is exactly the type of hotel that makes sense in Kuala Lumpur. It delivers a genuinely upscale experience without the kind of extreme room rates you would expect in many European capitals.
The attached Booking.com listing shows an excellent 9.2/10 guest rating from more than 1,700 reviews, with a strong central location close to the KLCC / city-centre area. The location is especially useful for a short first stay because you can reach major sights, restaurants and shopping without wasting too much time crossing the city.
The design is one of the strongest reasons to choose it: modern rooms with large windows and city views, bold interiors, a rooftop swimming pool, fitness centre, two restaurants, room service, free Wi-Fi and a very polished IHG boutique-hotel feel.
The rooftop pool overlooking the Kuala Lumpur skyline is the standout feature. After arriving from Paris in the evening, this is the kind of property where it is easy to slow down, recover from the journey and start the trip properly before moving on to another part of Malaysia.
The attached sample search showed a standard king room from around €372 for 3 nights. For two people sharing, that works out at approximately €186 per person for the stay, or roughly €62 per person per night.
More flexible room options were shown around €412-€434 per room, while breakfast-included options were also available. At these prices, I would compare flexibility and breakfast conditions carefully rather than automatically taking the cheapest non-refundable rate.

Rooftop pool + central city location
Kuala Lumpur is spread out, but several central districts work very well for visitors. For a 3-night stay I would prioritise convenience, food and easy access to major sights rather than chasing the absolute cheapest room.
Start with the city's most recognisable skyline, KLCC Park and the surrounding shopping and dining district.
One of the easiest major excursions from central Kuala Lumpur and a very different experience from the modern city centre.
Combine temples, food, markets and older neighbourhoods for a more cultural side of the city.
Kuala Lumpur's Malay, Chinese and Indian food scene is one of the strongest reasons to spend a few nights here.
With 11 hotel nights in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur should be the start of the trip rather than the entire holiday. After 3 nights in the capital, I would continue to one or two destinations with a very different feel.
Dino 11-night idea: Kuala Lumpur 3 nights → Penang 3 nights → Langkawi 4 nights, then return to Kuala Lumpur in time for the 09:30 flight on 10 November.
