About this deal
A genuinely fun China 3-in-1 itinerary from Vienna:
Chengdu + Sanya + Shenzhen on one multi-city booking with
Hainan Airlines from around €455.
The reference trip is 8–25 November 2026.
You fly nonstop from Vienna to Chengdu, then nonstop to Sanya,
continue nonstop to Shenzhen and finally fly nonstop back to Vienna.
The reference split gives you approximately
5 hotel nights in Chengdu,
7 nights in Sanya, Hainan and
4 nights in Shenzhen.
The flight times are definitely the weak point:
there is a 05:00 arrival in Chengdu,
late 23:30 arrivals in Sanya and Shenzhen,
and a 01:55 departure from Shenzhen.
But there are no connections or overnight airport layovers —
every sector is nonstop.
Most importantly, this itinerary is highly customisable.
The prepared combinations below are examples rather than fixed packages.
The domestic China sectors are especially flexible, so you can experiment
with spending more or less time in Chengdu, Sanya or Shenzhen and recheck
the total fare before paying.

Because of the 01:55 departure, I would normally keep the hotel
through the night of 24 November and leave for the airport late that evening.

Fare details + catches
A 05:00 arrival, two 23:30 arrivals and a 01:55 departure stop this from being a perfect itinerary. But at around €455 you are getting three very different Chinese destinations, a proper 7-night tropical stay in Sanya and four nonstop flights. That is a lot of trip for the money.
These are simply combinations I found at attractive prices. The domestic China sectors are particularly useful for customising the trip: if you want more beach time in Sanya, fewer nights in Shenzhen, or a longer Chengdu stay, move the middle dates and search again. The fare can change when one sector reprices, so always check the final total before paying.

Booking options
The reference 8 → 14 → 21 → 25 November itinerary was showing at around €455 with Mytrip when checked. Use the prepared Skyscanner link, then verify all four dates, baggage, passenger details and the final ticket conditions before payment.
CHECK REFERENCE ITINERARY →Gotogate was showing the same headline price as Mytrip, while Booking.com was approximately €19 more. On a complex multi-city ticket, compare servicing and change conditions as well as the headline fare before choosing the seller.
The reference gives you about 5 nights in Chengdu + 7 nights in Sanya + 4 nights in Shenzhen, but that split is not mandatory. The domestic Hainan Airlines sectors make this itinerary unusually flexible: try moving TFU → SYX or SYX → SZX forward or backward to build the version that suits you.
Six combinations are prepared below. Each line shows: Vienna departure → Chengdu-to-Sanya → Sanya-to-Shenzhen → Shenzhen-to-Vienna. Only two of these examples give exactly 7 nights in Sanya, including the reference trip, but the schedule is highly customisable — especially the two domestic China sectors.
Want more beach time? Extend Sanya. More food, pandas and Sichuan culture? Give Chengdu extra days. Want longer in the Pearl River Delta? Push the final Shenzhen-to-Vienna flight later. These prepared searches are starting points, not rigid itineraries.
The schedules are not pretty, but €455 for a three-destination China trip with four nonstop Hainan Airlines flights is extremely compelling. The ability to customise the domestic sectors makes it even more useful.

China 3-in-1 hotel playbook
The reference Hainan Airlines trip gives you 5 hotel nights in Chengdu, 7 nights in Sanya and 4 nights in Shenzhen — 16 hotel nights in total. Because the domestic flight dates are highly customisable, treat these hotel dates as the reference plan rather than a rigid itinerary. If you move one of the China sectors, simply adjust the relevant hotel stay to match.
For a long multi-city trip like this, I would secure good hotels with free cancellation once the flights are booked, then keep checking the same dates as the trip approaches. If the price drops, rebook the better refundable rate and only cancel the original reservation after the replacement is confirmed.

💰 Dino hotel booking method
Once the flights are ticketed, secure a good hotel in each city with free cancellation. For this trip I would rather hold three sensible bookings than wait months hoping every hotel gets cheaper.
Recheck periodically, especially because you are buying 16 nights in total. A €10 nightly reduction across several nights can quickly become worth the effort.
If a genuinely better rate appears, confirm the new booking before cancelling the old one. Compare the final total and conditions, not just the headline nightly price.
🌙 Hotel-night plan for the reference trip
Check in: 9 November.
Check out: 14 November.
You arrive at 05:00, so luggage storage or guaranteed early check-in matters here.
Check in: 14 November.
Check out: 21 November.
The 23:30 arrival means I would notify the hotel of a late check-in.
Check in: 21 November.
Check out: 25 November.
The 23:30 arrival and 01:55 departure make late-night transport important.
The reference is 5 + 7 + 4 nights, but you can move the domestic sectors to create a different balance if you prefer more beach time, more Chengdu or a longer Shenzhen stay.
📍 Best areas to stay
Chengdu · Chunxi Road / Taikoo Li
My easiest first-time base: central, lively and convenient for restaurants, shopping and transport. Tianfu Square is another practical central option, while Kuanzhai Alley works if you prefer more traditional atmosphere.
Sanya · Dadonghai / Yalong Bay
Choose Dadonghai for a more convenient mix of beach, restaurants and city access. Choose Yalong Bay if resort quality and a more relaxed beach stay matter more than being central.
Shenzhen · Futian / Nanshan
Futian is the strongest all-round base for transport and city sightseeing. Nanshan works well for modern attractions, waterfront areas and easier access toward the western side of the city.
🌎 How I would use the 3-city trip
Five nights is enough for Chengdu itself, Sichuan food, the panda base and one slower day or excursion. If culture and food matter more than beaches, this is the easiest city to extend.
Seven nights turns Sanya into a real beach holiday rather than a quick stop. I would keep at least five nights here unless the beach element is not important to you.
Four hotel nights gives you several usable days for Shenzhen and enough flexibility for an optional side trip before the overnight flight home.
🌍 Where to go next / easy extensions
The reference trip already covers three very different parts of China, so I would not add another stop unless you have extra time. If you do extend it, these are the easiest directions I would consider.
Chongqing
A natural extension from Chengdu if you want another major southwest-China city, dramatic river scenery and a very different urban atmosphere.
Wanning or Lingshui
If seven nights in Hainan are mainly about beaches, consider splitting Sanya with another coastal base rather than changing islands or adding another flight.
Hong Kong
Shenzhen makes Hong Kong an obvious optional extension. Check the entry requirements for your passport and allow comfortable time for the border journey.
⚠️ Dangers + what to look out for
The main risks on this itinerary are less about the destinations themselves and more about late-night logistics, payment/connectivity differences, hotel conditions and making sure each booking matches the multi-city schedule.
Standard check-in will usually be much later. Confirm luggage storage, paid early check-in or an extra previous-night booking if you want immediate room access.
Both domestic flights arrive around 23:30 on the reference schedule. Tell the hotel you will arrive late and plan the transfer before you travel.
Keep the Shenzhen room through the night of 24 November so you have somewhere to shower, rest and leave bags before heading to the airport late that evening.
Some familiar international online services may not work normally in mainland China. Arrange connectivity before arrival and keep offline copies of hotel addresses, confirmations and key transport details.
Mobile payment is widespread, while acceptance of foreign cards or cash can vary by business. Set up your preferred payment method in advance and keep a backup option.
Use established accommodation and confirm the property can host international guests and handle the required guest-registration process without problems.
Follow local beach flags and weather advice, especially if swimming away from the main resort areas. Conditions can change even when the weather looks good from shore.
Large Chinese cities and resort zones can spread a long way. Verify the exact property location, nearest useful transport and realistic travel time before booking.
🛡️ Practical booking notes
Until the domestic flight dates are completely fixed, free cancellation protects you if you later decide to move a night from one city to another.
This matters particularly in Chengdu on arrival day and Shenzhen on departure day. Confirm it before booking rather than assuming it will be available.
Across 16 nights, breakfast inclusions can materially change the real trip cost. Compare room-only and breakfast rates rather than assuming the cheapest headline price is best.
Check taxes, deposits, payment timing, cancellation deadlines, breakfast, room type and late-arrival conditions before deciding which rate is actually cheaper.
Instead of loading separate activity widgets for all three destinations, use one simple search for tours and experiences. Compare Chengdu panda visits and food tours, Sanya excursions and water activities, plus Shenzhen city experiences and day trips.
