Ottawa
from £325 return
About this deal
A very strong nonstop transatlantic fare from London Gatwick to Ottawa with Air Transat.
The cheapest reference option is £325 return via Skyscanner UK → Trip.com for
25 September – 2 October 2026.
The Eco Budget fare includes a personal item,
1 × 10 kg cabin bag and meals.
Air Transat direct was showing around £339 return on a very similar late-September itinerary,
so cabin-bag-only travellers may prefer to pay the small premium and book directly with the airline.
If you need checked baggage, Trip.com becomes especially interesting:
its Eco Standard fare at £423 return includes 1 × 23 kg checked bag,
and that was cheaper than the equivalent Air Transat direct package once checked baggage was added.
Routing: nonstop both ways
Outbound: 09:40 → 12:40
Return: 19:40 → 07:55+1
Cabin baggage: 1 × 10 kg
Meals: included
Reference flight schedule
Air Transat TS383 · Airbus A321neo · nonstop
Journey time: approximately 8 hours.
Excellent timing: civilised morning departure and arrival in Ottawa around lunchtime.
Air Transat TS382 · Airbus A321neo · nonstop
Journey time: approximately 7h15.
Very useful overnight return that lets you keep most of your final day in Ottawa.
Fare proof: Trip.com vs Air Transat
Trip.com showed £325 return for Eco Budget with personal item + 10 kg carry-on + meals. Its £423 Eco Standard option includes 1 × 23 kg checked baggage.
Check Trip.com via Skyscanner →
Air Transat was showing £339 return on a very similar late-September itinerary. That is only around £14 more than Trip.com, so direct airline booking makes sense for cabin-bag-only travellers.
Check Air Transat direct →The proof screenshots use slightly different late-September return dates, so always re-check your exact combination before payment.
What is included?
Eco Budget includes a personal item, 1 × 10 kg carry-on and meals. For a nonstop transatlantic ticket at £325–£339 return, those inclusions are very solid.
Trip.com showed Eco Standard at £423 return with 1 × 23 kg checked bag. That was cheaper than the equivalent direct Air Transat package once checked baggage was added, so the OTA is worth comparing if you need a suitcase.
Booking options
Best if you want the lowest price. Eco Budget includes 10 kg cabin baggage + meals. If you need checked baggage, Trip.com's £423 Eco Standard fare is especially interesting.
Check Trip.com via Skyscanner →If you only need cabin baggage, I would pay roughly £14 more and book directly with the airline. For such a small difference, direct support is worth it.
Check Air Transat direct →Normally I lean toward booking direct when the price gap is tiny. Here the better choice depends on baggage: cabin bag only → Air Transat direct; 23 kg checked bag → Trip.com may be cheaper.
Compare the Trip.com fare →Availability is the main weakness. The strongest prices are concentrated around only a few September and early-October combinations.
Excellent — low price, nonstop routing and useful inclusions. £325–£339 return for London–Ottawa nonstop is very strong, especially with 10 kg cabin baggage and meals included. Limited availability and the checked-bag uplift are the main negatives.

For the 25 September – 2 October 2026 reference trip you have 7 nights. Ottawa itself is easy to enjoy in 2–3 full days, so unless you want a very slow trip, I would use the cheap nonstop fare as an opportunity to combine the Canadian capital with Montreal, Quebec City or a nature stop outside the city.
How many nights should you spend in Ottawa?
Ottawa is compact by North American standards and many of the main sights sit relatively close together.
For most first-time visitors, 2–3 nights is enough for Parliament Hill,
the Rideau Canal area, ByWard Market and one or two museums.
With the 7-night reference itinerary, I would not automatically stay in Ottawa for the entire week.
A split such as 3 nights Ottawa + 4 nights Montreal makes much better use of the trip.
Best areas to stay in Ottawa
Dino's Booking.com + Karma hotel strategy
My preferred hotel-search strategy is to browse Booking.com with the Karma browser extension active. I first find the hotel and room I actually want on Booking.com, then let Karma check whether the same stay is being offered for less through another booking portal. If Karma does not surface a better option, I also check Trivago before making the final booking.
Keep the free Karma browser extension active while searching hotels.
Choose the Ottawa hotel, dates and room you would genuinely be happy to book.
If Karma finds the same hotel cheaper elsewhere, follow the comparison it surfaces from the Booking.com page.
Match the same room, dates, guests, breakfast, cancellation, taxes and payment timing.
If Karma finds nothing useful, compare the same hotel on Trivago before paying.
The exact checks to make before booking
Dino note: if the saving is tiny, I normally favour the option with the clearer cancellation terms and better customer support rather than chasing the absolute lowest number.
Where to go next from Ottawa
Dino route idea: for the 25 Sep – 2 Oct reference trip, I would seriously consider 3 nights Ottawa + 4 nights Montreal. It gives you two very different Canadian cities without turning a one-week trip into a transport marathon.
Ottawa safety: dangers and things not to do
Ottawa is generally a comfortable city for visitors, but it is still a real city rather than a theme park. Around parts of downtown, particularly near some shelters and sections of the ByWard Market / Rideau Street area, you may encounter visible homelessness, public substance-use issues or people in distress. That does not mean unhoused people are inherently dangerous — the sensible response is simply to give people space and use normal big-city awareness.

GetYourGuide ideas
Use GetYourGuide to compare current options for city tours, river cruises, sightseeing passes, walking tours and day trips around the Ottawa–Gatineau area. For a short city break, I would only pre-book the experiences that genuinely need a timed slot and leave the rest of the itinerary flexible.
