A very strong nonstop fare from
Manchester to Akureyri in North Iceland,
with several late-November and early-December combinations available.
Our preferred option is
27 November → 30 November 2026 for £75.32 return.
It is not the absolute cheapest combination, but we prefer the shorter three-night stay because
Iceland is expensive and this keeps the total trip cost much more manageable.
The base fare includes
one small cabin bag only.
Adding a regular large cabin bag for both flights costs about
£64.98 extra, bringing the total to approximately
£140.30 return.
Late November also places the trip firmly inside
Northern Lights season, although aurora sightings can never be guaranteed because cloud cover and solar activity still matter.
With a large cabin bag: about £140.30 return.
easyJet EZY2293
Nonstop flight to North Iceland.
The 06:00 departure is early,
but the 08:50 arrival gives you almost the entire first day in Akureyri.
easyJet EZY2294
Nonstop flight back to Manchester.
The morning departure is straightforward for a short winter break
and avoids an awkward late-night arrival back in the UK.
The first proof shows the £75.32 return base fare. The second shows the same trip after adding a large cabin bag on both sectors, increasing the total to £140.30. Prices and availability can change after publication.
The real strength of this fare is the combination of
nonstop flights, a very low base price and late-November travel.
Akureyri gives you direct access to North Iceland without first flying into Reykjavik
and then arranging another domestic flight or a long overland journey.
For travellers who can manage three nights with the included small cabin bag,
£75.32 return is exceptional value.
The
£75.32 return fare does not include a regular cabin trolley or checked bag.
The easyJet booking screen showed a large cabin bag at approximately
£31.49 outbound + £33.49 return,
or about £64.98 extra in total.
That brings the trip to approximately
£140.30 return with a large cabin bag.
Winter weather in North Iceland can also be changeable.
The Northern Lights are a major reason to travel at this time of year,
but sightings depend on clear skies and aurora activity and are never guaranteed.
For the preferred
three-night trip,
I would seriously consider travelling with just the included small cabin bag.
This keeps the fare genuinely spectacular
and makes more sense for such a short winter break.
Pack carefully and check easyJet's current small-bag dimensions before travelling.
If winter clothing makes the small-bag option unrealistic,
adding the regular large cabin bag increases the total by roughly
£64.98.
At around £140 return it is still a reasonable direct fare to North Iceland,
but the baggage supplement significantly reduces the headline-value advantage.
Several late-November and early-December combinations were available. Our pick is 27-30 November even though the 27 November-7 December fare is slightly cheaper, because accommodation and day-to-day costs in Iceland can quickly outweigh the small saving on airfare.
A very strong short-break fare with nonstop flights, direct easyJet booking and excellent Northern Lights timing. The biggest weakness is baggage: the headline price includes only a small under-seat cabin bag, and adding a regular cabin bag almost doubles the airfare.

Akureyri is a small town, but its tourist infrastructure is very good for its size. You will find proper hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, bars, geothermal swimming, organised winter excursions and plenty of accommodation within easy walking distance of the centre.
Accommodation can start from around £80 per room per night on selected dates. For a couple sharing, that is only around £40 per person per night. For this particular trip, however, I would spend a little more and prioritise a central location and breakfast included. In Iceland, having breakfast already covered can make mornings easier and helps control the overall food budget.
For the preferred 27-30 November flight dates, I think 3 nights is the sweet spot. You arrive at 08:50 on the first day, so despite the short stay you still get almost three full days on the ground. It also keeps hotel and food costs under control in what remains an expensive country.
Perfect for a long weekend focused on Akureyri, Northern Lights and one major North Iceland excursion.
Do not lock every night into restaurants or indoor plans. If the skies clear, be ready to go aurora hunting.
Longer trips give you more weather flexibility and time for Mývatn, Goðafoss and other North Iceland day trips.
For this three-night winter trip, I would choose Hotel Akureyri. It costs a little more than the cheapest accommodation in town, but in return you get a very strong central location, excellent guest feedback and, most importantly, breakfast included in the displayed rate.
The hotel sits on Hafnarstræti, Akureyri's main street, less than 2 km from the airport. The displayed listing shows a fabulous 8.8/10 guest rating from more than 2,800 reviews and an excellent 9.5/10 location score.
For the 27-30 November stay, the displayed Small Double Room was around £302 total for 3 nights, including taxes and charges, with breakfast included. That works out at roughly £101 per room per night, or about £50 per person per night when two people share.
The hotel has a restaurant and bar, free Wi-Fi and free parking, and the property description highlights views towards Eyjafjörður. Akureyri Church is only a short walk away, while the town's restaurants, swimming pool and central sights are all easy to reach.
One detail to be aware of is that the property uses a self-service contactless check-in and check-out system rather than a permanently manned reception. For most travellers this should be straightforward, but it is worth knowing before arrival.
Hafnarstræti 67
Location score: 9.5/10
Akureyri is compact and much of its accommodation is either in the centre or within easy walking distance. For a three-night winter break, I would prioritise convenience over trying to save a small amount by staying far outside town.
Late November is firmly within the North Iceland aurora season. Keep evenings flexible and remember that clear skies matter just as much as aurora activity.
If weather and roads cooperate, this is the obvious big day trip. Goðafoss is close to Route 1 and the Mývatn region adds volcanic landscapes and geothermal scenery.
Leave time for the centre, church, waterfront, local restaurants and the geothermal swimming pool rather than treating Akureyri only as a sleeping base.
North Iceland weather can change quickly. On a short trip I would avoid building an over-complicated self-drive itinerary and keep one day flexible.
For the three-night deal I would keep the same hotel in Akureyri and use the town as your base. Moving accommodation wastes too much time on such a short trip, especially in winter. If you book one of the longer fare combinations, then the wider North Iceland region becomes much easier to explore.
Dino 3-night plan: arrival morning + Akureyri afternoon, Northern Lights when skies cooperate, one full Goðafoss / Mývatn day, and one flexible town or winter-activity day. I would not change hotels on this short itinerary.A few useful extras that can make the journey easier, particularly when travelling with restrictive cabin-bag fares, arriving late or needing mobile data as soon as you land.
