Fare details + catches
Sub-€360 nonstop transatlantic pricing is already attractive, but the biggest plus is that TAP itself was around €380. That means you can choose the cheaper OTA option or pay only a relatively small premium to book directly with the airline.
The airfare is excellent, but accommodation, restaurants, transport and attractions in New York can be expensive. I would check hotel prices before booking the flight, especially for dates close to the Thanksgiving period.
Booking options
This is the cheaper option on the reference trip. Use the prepared Skyscanner link to open the correct dates and confirm the final fare before payment.
CHECK 18 NOV – 24 NOV →TAP was selectable directly from the Skyscanner provider list. At only around €21–25 more than the Kissandfly reference fare, booking directly with the airline is a very sensible alternative.
Seven prepared direct-flight combinations were found in late November 2026. The 18–24 November trip is the reference option used for the fare proof.
Some of the later combinations overlap with the US Thanksgiving period. The airfare can still be attractive, but hotel prices and demand in New York may be higher around those dates.
An excellent nonstop transatlantic fare with useful cabin baggage, a very small premium to book directly with TAP and strong late-November availability. New York's high on-ground costs are the main factor holding the overall score down.

New York hotel playbook
The reference TAP Air Portugal itinerary arrives at Newark on 18 November 2026 at 21:55 and leaves Newark on 24 November at 23:15 That gives you 6 hotel nights in the New York area For a short stay like this I would prioritise easy subway or PATH access over saving a small amount on a hotel far from the places you actually want to visit
New York hotels can be expensive
and distances that look small on a map can still cost you time
For this trip I would compare
Midtown, Chelsea / Flatiron, Lower Manhattan and Long Island City
before choosing purely on nightly price

Dino hotel booking method
Find 3–5 hotels in the area you actually want For New York compare recent reviews exact room size subway or PATH access taxes facility fees breakfast cancellation terms and the final six-night total
Once you have a room you like let Karma check whether another seller has the same room for less Only switch if the room type guest count taxes fees cancellation policy breakfast and payment conditions genuinely match
Before paying search the same hotel and dates on Trivago compare the final stay total one more time and favour the option with the clearest conditions if the saving is small
How many hotel nights?
Check in 18 November
Check out 24 November
Arrival at Newark at 21:55
Do not plan anything important for the first evening
Six nights is enough for the main Manhattan sights plus Brooklyn neighbourhood time or a slower day
Departure at 23:15
Use luggage storage after checkout and enjoy most of the final day
Best areas to stay
Midtown Manhattan
Best for first-time visitors major sights Broadway transport and easy access across Manhattan
Chelsea / Flatiron
Central without feeling quite as hectic as Times Square with good subway access restaurants and walkability
Lower Manhattan
Useful for Downtown sights Brooklyn access the Financial District and several subway lines
Long Island City
Often better value than Manhattan while still giving fast subway access to Midtown
How I would use the 6-night stay
Use one or two days for Midtown Central Park Fifth Avenue Rockefeller Center and the major observation decks
Give a full day to the Financial District 9/11 Memorial area Battery Park and nearby neighbourhoods
Cross the Brooklyn Bridge spend time in DUMBO Brooklyn Heights or another neighbourhood outside Manhattan
Keep one day for museums a Broadway show shopping or simply slowing the trip down
Dangers + what to look out for
New York is straightforward for most visitors but the most common problems are usually expensive hotel surprises petty theft unofficial transport offers and poor location choices rather than anything dramatic
Check whether the quoted hotel total already includes compulsory facility destination or resort-style fees because these can materially change the real nightly cost
Ignore unsolicited ride offers inside or outside the terminal and use official taxis recognised ride-hailing apps or public transport
Keep phones wallets passports and bags secure in crowded subway cars Times Square stations and busy tourist areas
Read recent reviews about the immediate block subway entrance lighting noise and how comfortable guests felt returning late
New York hotel rooms can be much smaller than expected so check the actual room size bed configuration and luggage space before booking
Weekend and late-night service changes are common so do not choose a hotel based on a single subway line without checking alternatives
Times Square convenience stores souvenir shops and some casual food outlets can be poor value compared with places only a few blocks away
Pay attention to recent complaints about bedbugs heating elevators street noise cleanliness and surprise charges
Practical booking notes
A hotel near several subway lines or a strong PATH connection can save a lot of time over six days
Expect cool conditions possible rain and colder evenings so a well-heated room matters more than it would in summer
New York hotel taxes and mandatory fees can be significant so compare the complete six-night total not only the headline nightly rate
Your flights use Newark EWR so factor airport-transfer time into both the late arrival and the 23:15 return departure
For a six-night New York trip I would prioritise experiences where timed entry a guide or organised transport genuinely saves you time
