$670 return, with the booking completed
directly on Delta's website.
The itinerary includes
one checked bag and avoids the lengthy connection
normally required when travelling between Atlanta and Saudi Arabia.
Google Flights displayed the equivalent fare at approximately €579 return.

Atlanta before the overnight long-haul flight.

There is
no connection in Europe or the Middle East
on this itinerary.
For such a long journey, removing an additional airport connection
can easily save several hours and significantly reduce travel fatigue.
That makes this fare considerably more attractive than simply
comparing it against the cheapest connecting alternative.
Both flights depart close to midnight.
This works reasonably well for an overnight long-haul journey, but
travellers who dislike very late departures should take this into
account.
The return also reaches Atlanta shortly before 07:00, which may be
tiring if you need to continue travelling immediately after arrival.

Skyscanner US, but the selected booking option sends
travellers directly to
Delta's own website.

Riyadh is worth more than a quick overnight stop, but for most leisure
travellers there is no need to spend the entire holiday in the capital.
For the Delta nonstop deal, I would normally plan
4 to 5 nights in Riyadh and use the remaining days to
explore another part of Saudi Arabia.
Riyadh is a very large city and distances can be significant, so the cheapest hotel is not automatically the best value.
My first choice for most visitors.
Olaya is one of Riyadh's main commercial districts and provides a
large choice of hotels, restaurants and shopping.
Staying around the
Kingdom Centre / Olaya area gives first-time
visitors a practical base for exploring different parts of the city.
King Abdullah Financial District is a good choice if you want to
experience the newer, futuristic side of Riyadh.
Expect striking architecture, newer hotels and a polished modern
atmosphere.
A calmer and greener option for travellers who value a quieter hotel environment over being surrounded by shopping and nightlife.
Enough for the main city highlights but relatively rushed if you also want a day trip outside Riyadh.
The best balance for most visitors.
Enough time for modern Riyadh, historic Diriyah, markets and
museums plus an Edge of the World day trip.
Suitable for slow travel or events, but for a first Saudi holiday I would usually spend some of those nights elsewhere.
For the typical 10-night fares, I would spend around
4 nights in Riyadh.
For a 12- or 13-night trip, increasing Riyadh to
5 nights still leaves plenty of time for AlUla or
Jeddah.
Mix modern Riyadh with the city's heritage.
Consider Diriyah, Kingdom Centre, museums, traditional markets,
local food and the city's rapidly developing entertainment areas.
A trip to the dramatic desert escarpments outside Riyadh can occupy much of a day and is one of the most obvious additions to a 4-5 night stay.
Compare Riyadh tours, desert experiences, city sightseeing and activities for your travel dates.
A 10-13 night trip gives you enough time to see much more of Saudi Arabia than only the capital.
My first choice for extending the trip.
AlUla combines spectacular desert scenery, archaeology and an
experience completely different from Riyadh.
Explore Al-Balad, experience the Red Sea coastline and add a very different Saudi city to the trip.
A less obvious alternative offering mountain scenery and a very different landscape from central Saudi Arabia.
Easy first Saudi trip with a final buffer in Riyadh.
Combine the capital, historic Jeddah and the Red Sea.
My favourite option if you have enough time.
Saudi Arabia is enormous.
For a trip combining Riyadh, AlUla and Jeddah,
domestic flights will often be the most practical way to travel.
I would also return to Riyadh at least one night before the Delta flight
home rather than connecting directly from a domestic flight.
Start with approximately 4-5 nights in Riyadh.
For a first visit, I would begin around
Al Olaya / Kingdom Centre.
For a multi-city trip, search Riyadh, AlUla and Jeddah separately rather than booking one Riyadh hotel for the entire international trip.
A few useful extras that can make the journey easier, particularly when travelling with restrictive cabin-bag fares, arriving late or needing mobile data as soon as you land.
