A strong nonstop fare from Madrid to São Paulo on Air China,
but this one comes with enough compromises that we are keeping the score well below 9.
Reference itinerary: 14 September → 2 October 2026,
giving you around 18 nights in Brazil.
Trip.com shows €683 return with
2 x 23 kg checked baggage, a 1 x 5 kg cabin bag
and a personal item.
The main weaknesses are the 05:00 arrival into São Paulo,
the 00:45 arrival back into Madrid,
only two date combinations, and Trip.com's warning that the itinerary
will be split across multiple bookings and flight tickets.
2 x 23 kg checked baggage included.
Air China CA897
Nonstop Boeing 787-9 service.
Journey time: 10h45.
The 23:15 departure from Madrid is good for a long-haul flight,
but the 05:00 arrival at GRU is inconvenient:
normal hotel check-in is still many hours away and you may start the trip tired.
Air China CA898
Nonstop Boeing 787-9 service.
Journey time: 10h20.
The 09:25 departure means an early airport start in São Paulo,
while the 00:45 arrival into Madrid is poor for onward transport
or anyone who still needs to continue after landing.
Trip.com states that the itinerary will be
split across multiple bookings and flight tickets.
Because both flights are nonstop, there is no missed-connection issue,
but changes, cancellations and refunds may be less straightforward than on one clean ticket.
Fare proof is for the 14 September-2 October 2026 reference itinerary. Prices and availability can change after publication.
The big positives are clear:
nonstop routing, Boeing 787-9 aircraft and 2 x 23 kg checked baggage.
With around 18 nights on the reference trip, this is also long enough to combine
São Paulo with Rio de Janeiro, Paraty, Ilha Grande or another part of Brazil.
Only two useful dates were found.
The 05:00 GRU arrival is too early for a comfortable hotel arrival,
and the 00:45 Madrid arrival is also inconvenient.
Trip.com's multiple-booking / multiple-ticket warning is another reason
we are keeping the Dino Score at 8.2/10 rather than pushing this into the 9s.
This is the fare shown in the supplied proof and includes
2 x 23 kg checked baggage.
Before paying, verify the final total and read the conditions carefully because
Trip.com flags the itinerary as split across multiple bookings and flight tickets.
If Air China or another reputable seller offers the same flights on one clean ticket for only a small premium, I would seriously consider paying more for the simpler booking structure.
Availability is poor. We found only two date combinations worth listing at this price.
A good nonstop Brazil fare with excellent baggage and Boeing 787-9 aircraft, but awkward arrival times, only two dates and the split-booking warning keep this firmly below the 9/10 tier.

São Paulo is much more than an arrival point. It is Brazil's huge food, culture and nightlife capital, with enough museums, neighbourhoods, restaurants and urban energy to justify a proper stop before continuing elsewhere in the country.
For the reference 14 September-2 October trip, I would normally spend around 3 nights / 3 full days in São Paulo, then use the remaining time for destinations such as Rio de Janeiro, Paraty and Ilha Grande. If you particularly enjoy big cities, food and museums, extending São Paulo to 4 nights is perfectly reasonable.
The reference flight arrives at São Paulo Guarulhos at 05:00.
By the time you clear immigration, collect baggage and reach the city,
it may still be far too early for normal hotel check-in.
If having a room immediately is important, the safest option is to
book the hotel from the night before your arrival.
For example, if the flight lands on 15 September at 05:00,
reserve the room starting on 14 September.
Then contact the hotel before travelling and explain that you will not physically arrive
until the early morning of 15 September.
Ask them to keep the reservation active for a late / overnight arrival
so the room is not treated as a no-show.
This means paying for an extra hotel night, but after an overnight long-haul flight
it can be worth it rather than waiting until the afternoon for a guaranteed room.
São Paulo is enormous, so the goal is not to see everything. Choose a well-located hotel, group sights by area and leave time for restaurants and neighbourhood wandering rather than spending the whole stay moving across the city.
My preferred balance for this fare: enough to experience São Paulo properly without using too much of an 18-night Brazil trip in one city.
Worth it if food, museums, architecture and nightlife are major priorities. São Paulo rewards travellers who enjoy large cities.
For the reference flight landing at 05:00 on 15 September, booking from the previous night can guarantee a bed as soon as you reach the city.
Three days is enough for a strong introduction if you avoid trying to cross the city repeatedly. Build each day around one or two neighbouring areas.
Start with São Paulo's best-known avenue, one of its major museums and the surrounding cultural institutions.
Combine green space with architecture and museums for a completely different side of the city.
Use an afternoon and evening for Beco do Batman, restaurants, bars and the city's creative neighbourhood atmosphere.
São Paulo's food scene is one of the main reasons to stay. Leave space in the itinerary for Brazilian, Japanese, Italian and other immigrant-influenced cuisines.
With roughly 18 nights on the reference dates, I would definitely turn this into a multi-stop Brazil trip. São Paulo is a logical first stop, but it should not use the majority of your holiday.
Dino 18-night idea: São Paulo 3 nights → Paraty 2-3 nights → Ilha Grande 3-4 nights → Rio de Janeiro 4-5 nights, leaving several flexible nights for extra beach time, another destination or the return to São Paulo before the flight home.A few useful extras that can make the journey easier, particularly when travelling with restrictive cabin-bag fares, arriving late or needing mobile data as soon as you land.
