Malé
from €479 return
About this deal
I found Athens to Malé from €479 return directly with Air Arabia,
with just one stop in Sharjah each way and sensible connection times.
For this deal I recommend selecting Economy Value, not the cheapest bare fare.
Value includes 20 kg checked baggage, a 7 kg cabin bag + personal item up to 3 kg,
seat selection from row 8 onwards, one free rebooking up to 24 hours before departure, plus the included
“meal” — a sandwich and water.
I am sending all booking traffic directly to Air Arabia. The airline was not appearing on Skyscanner for this route when checked,
and with a direct-airline fare already this competitive there is no reason for me to push an OTA.

Economy Value fare
When booking on Air Arabia, select Economy Value. This is the fare bundle that includes the 20 kg checked bag and the included sandwich + water.
I would not describe this as a full-service meal. The Value fare lists a sandwich and water.
Accommodation, resort transfers, meals and extras can easily cost far more than the flight. Price the full trip before booking.
Booking option
This is where I would book. Air Arabia was not appearing on Skyscanner for this route when checked, so I am sending all traffic directly to the airline.
Search directly with Air Arabia →Search these dates directly on Air Arabia and select Economy Value to keep the checked baggage and included basic catering.
A strong Maldives fare with good journey times, direct-airline booking and a useful baggage allowance. The compromises are Air Arabia's basic onboard product and the high costs once you arrive in the Maldives.

Maldives hotel guide
The reference trip leaves Athens on 3 November 2026, arrives in Malé on 4 November and flies home on 13 November. That gives you 9 hotel nights — from the night of 4 November through 12 November. With the Maldives, I would choose the island and transfer first, then compare the hotel.
A cheap-looking resort can become expensive once you add mandatory transfers, meals, taxes and resort extras. I would compare the total trip cost before paying, not just the nightly rate.
💰 Dino hotel booking method
Decide whether you want a cheaper local-island stay, a private resort island, or a split between the two. That decision matters more here than simply choosing a hotel star rating.
Some properties require a specific speedboat, domestic flight or seaplane transfer. Add that cost to the hotel total before deciding whether the room rate is really good value.
On an isolated resort island, eating elsewhere may not be practical. Compare room-only, breakfast, half-board and all-inclusive before choosing the cheapest headline rate.
⏳ How would I use 9 nights?
The easiest option if you mainly want to relax. It avoids repeated transfers, but I would make sure the meal plan and resort costs work for a full nine-night stay.
A good compromise if you want two different islands or want to combine a local island with a resort experience.
Spend a few nights somewhere more affordable, then finish with a resort if you want to keep the overall trip cost under control.
The return flight leaves Malé at 14:20, so I would avoid a complicated same-day transfer from a distant island unless the timing is confirmed.
📍 Where I would look first
One of the most practical local-island choices if you want guesthouses, restaurants, excursions and lower prices than a private resort island.
A useful place to start comparing resort islands because many properties are reachable by speedboat rather than a longer domestic connection.
Practical for an arrival or final night close to the airport, but I would not use it as the main Maldives beach stay unless convenience is the priority.
Useful for a short city stop or logistics, but it is not the classic Maldives resort experience most people picture when booking this trip.
🌎 Local island vs private resort
Usually the better choice for keeping accommodation and food costs down, with more independent restaurants and excursion operators.
More expensive, but this is where you get the classic overwater-villa and self-contained resort experience.
If there are no outside restaurants, the hotel controls almost all food options. That is why I would compare half-board or all-inclusive carefully.
A resort with a higher room rate but a cheap speedboat transfer can sometimes cost less overall than a cheaper resort requiring an expensive seaplane.
⚠️ Maldives practical survival kit
Check the price, operating times and whether the transfer must be booked through the property before you commit to the hotel.
A cheap room-only rate may not stay cheap once every lunch, dinner and drink is bought at resort prices.
Local islands are not the same environment as private resorts. Check local customs, beach rules and what is available on the specific island before booking.
Taxes, transfer charges and resort extras can materially change the final cost, so I would never compare Maldives hotels using only the first price shown.
Snorkelling, diving, sandbank trips, dolphin cruises and island-hopping are often the experiences that make the Maldives trip, especially if you stay on a local island rather than spending every day inside one resort.
A few useful extras that can make the journey easier, particularly when travelling with restrictive cabin-bag fares, arriving late or needing mobile data as soon as you land.
A useful packing solution when you are trying to fit more clothing
into a restricted cabin bag.
Particularly relevant for travellers using airlines such as
Ryanair and Wizz Air, where baggage dimensions and
additional luggage fees can significantly change the final cost of a
cheap flight.
Compress your clothing and make better use of the space available
