Athens works extremely well as both a cultural city break and a summer beach destination. For the 7–13 July 2027 itinerary, you have six nights in Greece, which is enough to combine the historic centre with several days on the Athens Riviera.
Our preferred approach is to spend three or four nights in central Athens, followed by two or three nights near the coast. This avoids travelling back and forth every day and gives the trip a more relaxed holiday feeling after the main sightseeing.
Spend three nights in central Athens for the Acropolis, Plaka, Monastiraki, the Ancient Agora and one relaxed evening with a rooftop view. Then move to Glyfada, Voula or Vouliagmeni for three nights beside the coast.
Travellers who prefer fewer hotel changes can remain in central Athens for all six nights and take day trips to the beaches, but the split stay is more relaxing in July and reduces repeated journeys between the city and the Riviera.
Visit the Acropolis and exposed archaeological sites early in the morning, then use the hottest afternoon hours for museums, lunch, the hotel pool or the beach.
