Complete Your Trip
Flights and accommodation are the big pieces — now make the journey smoother. Below are three useful extras for this trip: activities, mobile data and airport transfers.
Find tours, day trips, food experiences and activities to make this trip more memorable. A useful place to compare things to do before you travel.
Land with mobile data ready and avoid searching for SIM cards or relying on airport Wi-Fi. A simple option for staying connected while travelling.
A useful option for airport transfers, especially when arriving late, travelling with luggage or landing somewhere unfamiliar for the first time.
Need help finding the best flight for your trip?
For €15, Dino can personally research flight options for your trip — including alternative routes, nearby airports, baggage rules, layovers, airline quality and possible hidden costs.
Well-rated 4-star hotels in Manila can sometimes be found from around €50 per night, but for the first two or three nights of a longer Philippines trip, our pick is the 5-star New World Makati Hotel. It offers a comfortable place to recover from the long flight, a central Makati location and the facilities of a proper city hotel before continuing to one of the country’s islands.
Why New World Makati is our first-night pick
This is a comfortable way to begin a long Philippines trip without immediately taking another flight. The hotel is located in Makati’s business and shopping district, opposite Greenbelt and within easy reach of restaurants, cafés and shopping centres. It offers spacious rooms, an outdoor pool, a fitness centre, a spa, several restaurants and a bar, making it especially useful after the long journey from Europe.
Sample price and room options
For 19–22 October 2026, a Superior King Room was shown from approximately €303 for three nights for two adults, including taxes and charges. This lowest rate was non-refundable and required advance payment. A rate from approximately €377 included free cancellation before 18 October and no prepayment, while an option from around €446 also included breakfast.
Why Makati works well at the beginning of the trip
Recover before continuing
After a long overnight journey, spending two or three nights in a comfortable city hotel is usually easier than connecting immediately to another island.
- Best for: the first nights after arriving from Europe.
- Recommended stay: two or three nights.
- Main advantage: pool, spa, restaurants and a comfortable room.
- Airport transfer: allow extra time because Manila traffic can vary.
Shops, restaurants and city comfort
Makati is a practical district for travellers who want plenty of dining choices and modern facilities close to the hotel rather than staying in a quieter residential area.
- Nearby: Greenbelt, Glorietta and Ayala Center.
- Best for: restaurants, shopping and an easy first evening.
- Location rating: an excellent 9.5/10.
- Trade-off: it is not the historic centre of Manila.
A proper five-star city stay
New World Makati offers considerably more than a simple overnight hotel and can also work well for travellers who want a relaxing day before beginning a more active island itinerary.
- Facilities: outdoor pool, spa and fitness centre.
- Dining: multiple restaurants, room service and a bar.
- Breakfast: available separately or included with selected rates.
- Rooms: spacious Superior King options with city or pool views.
Where should you go after Manila?
Bohol and Panglao
The best all-round continuation for most travellers: combine beach time in Panglao with inland sightseeing, nature and island excursions.
- Recommended stay: four or five nights.
- Best for: beaches, relaxation and varied sightseeing.
- Good balance: island time without relying only on boat tours.
- Ideal trip: Manila + Bohol for a shorter holiday.
El Nido, Palawan
Choose El Nido when dramatic lagoons, limestone scenery and island hopping are the main reason for visiting the Philippines.
- Recommended stay: four or five nights.
- Best for: scenery, lagoons, beaches and boat trips.
- Trade-off: tours can be affected by rough weather.
- Dino advice: favour flexible hotel and flight conditions.
Boracay
Boracay works well for travellers who want a straightforward beach holiday with plenty of accommodation, restaurants and activities in one compact destination.
- Recommended stay: three or four nights.
- Best for: soft sand, swimming and sunsets.
- Advantage: easy to enjoy without a complicated itinerary.
- Trade-off: more developed and less adventurous than Palawan.
Suggested Philippines itinerary
Manila and Bohol
This is my preferred combination for a shorter first trip. You get a comfortable city introduction, several beach days and enough variety without trying to visit too many islands.
Manila, Palawan and Boracay
Choose this only when you have around two weeks and are comfortable taking additional domestic flights. Keep at least one flexible buffer day before your international departure.
Search New World Makati Hotel first for your first two or three nights, then compare other well-rated stays in Makati, Bonifacio Global City, Pasay and central Manila. Compare the complete stay price, cancellation deadline, breakfast, airport transfer and payment conditions.
Hotel prices, room availability, cancellation conditions, breakfast rates and payment terms can change. Domestic flight and ferry schedules are also subject to operational and weather changes. Confirm the final room total, booking conditions, baggage allowance, airport terminal, transfer time and current local weather before making non-refundable reservations.
