For the 04–11 May 2027 reference stay, this is a very good option if you want a more relaxed Malta base rather than staying in the busiest parts of the island.
Maritim Antonine Hotel & Spa sits in Mellieħa in northern Malta, close to some of the island’s best-known beaches and well positioned for trips towards Gozo and Comino. It combines a resort feel with a proper town setting, making it a good choice for couples or anyone who wants pools, spa facilities and easy access to the north of the island.
The hotel gives you a lot for a one-week stay: three swimming pools, a spa and wellness centre, three restaurants and a rooftop pool with panoramic views. It feels more like a resort than a standard city hotel, but you are still in Mellieħa rather than isolated in a beach complex.
Mellieħa is also one of the best places to base yourself if you want to explore northern Malta. Mellieħa Bay is nearby, while the ferry points for Gozo and Comino are much easier to reach from here than from Valletta or St Julian’s.

Best areas to stay in Malta
Malta is compact, but where you stay changes the feel of the holiday quite a lot. For a first visit, these are the areas I would consider first.
Best if you want beaches, a quieter atmosphere and easy access towards Gozo and Comino. This is where the featured Maritim Antonine is located.
The strongest choice for history, architecture, restaurants and atmosphere. Ideal if sightseeing matters more than having a beach outside the hotel.
Very practical for ferries, restaurants and getting around. A good middle ground between sightseeing and a more modern waterfront stay.
Better for bars, restaurants and nightlife. Choose this if you want a livelier evening scene rather than the quieter north.
How I would use 7 nights
With seven nights, I would avoid changing hotels unless you really want two completely different bases. Mellieħa works especially well if you plan to explore by rental car or organised tours.
One of the easiest additions from northern Malta. Give it a full day if possible rather than rushing through several stops.
A classic Malta excursion and particularly convenient from the north of the island.
Set aside at least one full day for Valletta, then add the Three Cities if you want more history and waterfront scenery.
One of the best half- or full-day trips on the island and a completely different atmosphere from the coast.
