The Atlanta routing is the clear weakness: it increases the total journey time, introduces United States transit requirements and some October combinations have a much longer return layover. The 1–14 October itinerary is particularly attractive because both connections remain relatively efficient.

Read the newest hotel reviews, check the exact street and prioritise properties with 24-hour reception, controlled access and arranged transport. Use an authorised airport taxi, a hotel transfer or a recognised app-based service. Do not hail an unknown taxi in the street, avoid displaying expensive phones or jewellery, and do not walk alone through quiet areas after dark. La Candelaria is essential for sightseeing, but many travellers may prefer staying farther north and visiting the historic centre during the day.
