FULL-SERVICE · 1 STOP ONLY!

Full-service flights from Budapest to Taipei, TAIWAN from €490 with China Eastern Airlines!

Published on: 30 July 2026
Airline
China Eastern Airlines
Baggage
23 kg check-in baggage included
Travel period
November – December

Full-service Budapest to Taipei from €490 on China Eastern Airlines with 23 kg check-in baggage included — a strong long-haul fare into Taiwan with meals, proper service, and full luggage in the ticket, not a stripped basic fare with add-ons everywhere.

Routing is one stop only via Shanghai Pudong (PVG). Waiting time can be up to 6h30 on some combinations, which is still fair at this price point for a Europe–Taiwan round trip with a checked bag included.

If you can access a lounge in PVG, this becomes a much more comfortable journey and the longer connection is easier to handle. Confirm BUD–PVG–TPE timings both ways, transit rules in China, and Taiwan entry requirements for your passport before you pay.

The lowest fare was previously found with Lastminute.com via Skyscanner Malta using an English-language booking flow from approximately €490 return. A later seller check displayed Lastminute.com from around €504, showing how quickly the live price can move. The deal should therefore use €490 as its reference price rather than a guaranteed current fare.

Reference itinerary: 14–23 November 2026

This itinerary provides approximately eight local nights in Taipei. All prepared dates use the same overall schedule, with journey times of approximately 19h30 outbound and 19h25 returning.

Outbound · 14–15 November 2026 · total journey 19h30
Budapest to Taipei via Shanghai
First flight
Budapest BUD → Shanghai Pudong PVG China Eastern MU8640 · operated by Shanghai Airlines · 11h10
11:30 → 05:40 +1
Connection in Shanghai: approximately 6h25
Final flight
Shanghai Pudong PVG → Taipei Taoyuan TPE China Eastern · approximately 1h55
Approximately 12:05 → 14:00

The daytime Budapest departure is convenient, but the 6h25 Shanghai wait makes the outbound journey considerably longer than necessary.

Return · 23–24 November 2026 · total journey 19h25
Taipei to Budapest via Shanghai
First flight
Taipei Taoyuan TPE → Shanghai Pudong PVG China Eastern MU5006 · 1h45
18:40 → 20:25
Connection in Shanghai: approximately 5h25
Long-haul flight
Shanghai Pudong PVG → Budapest BUD China Eastern MU8639 · operated by Shanghai Airlines · 12h15
01:50 +1 → 07:05

The evening departure from Taipei is useful, but the connection extends beyond midnight and includes more than five hours of airport waiting.

A checked bag is included

The displayed fare includes a 23 kg checked bag, which gives this offer noticeably better value than a basic long-haul fare with only a small cabin allowance.

Both Shanghai connections are long

The itinerary includes approximately 6h25 in Shanghai outbound and 5h25 on the return. Travellers prioritising comfort or the shortest journey should compare faster alternatives.

The €490 fare is a reference price

The price may now display higher on some dates or sellers. A recent check showed the cheapest seller from approximately €504. Always use the live checkout total as the final price.

Check Shanghai transit requirements

Confirm current passport, visa, transit, terminal and baggage-transfer rules for both Shanghai connections. Do not assume that every nationality receives the same transit conditions.

November and December suit city exploration

Taipei is generally milder and less humid than in summer during these dates. November is especially attractive for sightseeing, while December can be cooler and cloudier but remains suitable for food, culture, hot springs and day trips.

Dino Scorecard

A good-value full-service fare to Taipei with checked baggage included and excellent destination appeal, held below the mid-8s by almost twelve hours of combined airport waiting.

7.9 Good price, long connections

At a reference price of approximately €490 return, this is a strong fare from Budapest to Taipei with a 23 kg checked bag included.

Taipei, the travel season and baggage allowance score highly. The main compromise is the uncomfortable 6h25 and 5h25 Shanghai connections.

Honest final Dino Score: 7.9/10.

Price
8.7/10

€490 return is a strong price for Taiwan, although not quite an exceptional mistake-fare level.

Schedule
6.8/10

Reasonable departure and arrival times, but total journeys are approximately 19h30 each way.

Connections
6.9/10

One stop each way is simple, but 6h25 and 5h25 in Shanghai are not comfortable.

Airline and onboard product
7.5/10

A respectable full-service option, although not one of Asia’s most highly rated economy products.

Baggage
9.0/10

A 23 kg checked bag plus cabin baggage adds meaningful value to the displayed fare.

Booking simplicity
7.3/10

The English flow is useful, but the lowest fare is booked through a third-party seller.

Date availability
8.6/10

Nine useful combinations are prepared across November and December 2026.

Seasonality
8.6/10

Milder temperatures and lower humidity make this a good period for sightseeing and day trips.

Destination appeal
9.1/10

Taipei combines outstanding food, night markets, temples, hot springs, modern districts and easy day trips.

Why this deal stands out

Budapest to Taipei from a reference price of €490 return is a good full-service deal, particularly because a 23 kg checked bag is included and nine travel dates are prepared. Taipei is an excellent destination and November to December is a useful period for city exploration. The weakness is clear: the itinerary includes approximately 11h50 of combined airport waiting, making both journeys almost 19h30 long. This is best for price-focused travellers who are comfortable trading speed for savings. Honest Dino Score: 7.9/10.

Taipei hotel and Taiwan itinerary strategy

Taipei has a wide range of modern hotels, compact city rooms and well-connected neighbourhoods. Rather than choosing only by price or star rating, prioritise a property within a short walk of an MRT station. For most first-time visitors, the best choices are Taipei Main Station, Ximending, Zhongshan or Da’an.

How long should you stay in Taipei?

Four to five nights is ideal for Taipei itself. This gives enough time for the main neighbourhoods, temples, night markets, Taipei 101, museums and a slower food-focused day. With six to eight nights, Taipei also works very well as a base for day trips to Jiufen, Tamsui, Beitou or Yangmingshan.

Choose transport convenience over room size

Taipei hotel rooms can be compact, especially in central districts. A smaller but well-reviewed hotel near the MRT is usually more useful than a larger room requiring long walks or taxi rides. Check recent cleanliness reviews, window availability, soundproofing and the exact room size.

Best areas to stay in Taipei

Best for transport

Taipei Main Station and Zhongzheng

The most practical base for airport transfers, high-speed trains, conventional rail, multiple MRT lines and onward travel around Taiwan.

  • Best for: first visits, short stays and multi-city itineraries.
  • Advantage: easy access to trains, buses and the Airport MRT.
  • Trade-off: the immediate station area feels functional rather than atmospheric.
  • Recommended stay: 4–6 nights.
Best lively first-time base

Ximending

A colourful pedestrian district filled with street food, shops, cafés and late-night activity, while remaining close to Ximen MRT and central Taipei.

  • Best for: nightlife, food, younger travellers and first-time visitors.
  • Advantage: lively atmosphere and convenient public transport.
  • Trade-off: busy streets and possible noise around popular blocks.
  • Recommended stay: 4–5 nights.
Best for cafés and comfort

Zhongshan or Da’an

More polished neighbourhoods with restaurants, cafés, shopping and a calmer evening atmosphere than Ximending, while still offering strong MRT connections.

  • Best for: couples, repeat visitors and longer stays.
  • Advantage: excellent dining and a more residential feel.
  • Trade-off: some hotels cost more than around Taipei Main Station.
  • Recommended stay: 4–7 nights.
Dino tip: check the exact walking route to the MRT entrance, not only the distance displayed on the booking page. A hotel described as “near the station” can still involve several large road crossings, underground passages or a longer walk with luggage.

How to use an 8-night Taipei trip

Best for the shorter flight dates

Stay based in Taipei and add day trips

Taipei city 5–6 nights
Jiufen / northeast coast 1 day trip
Beitou or Yangmingshan 1 day trip
Tamsui Half/full day

For an eight-night local stay, there is no need to change hotels repeatedly. Taipei is a strong base for northern Taiwan and the surrounding day trips.

Alternative compact route

Taipei plus one southern city

Taipei 5 nights
Tainan 2 nights
Final Taipei night 1 night
Travel method High-speed rail

Tainan is the strongest contrast to modern Taipei, with historic streets, temples and one of Taiwan’s most celebrated food scenes. Return to Taipei before the flight home.

Where to go next after Taipei

Best easy next stop

Taichung and Sun Moon Lake

Taichung offers museums, cafés and markets, while nearby Sun Moon Lake adds scenery, cycling and a slower pace after Taipei.

  • Suggested time: 1–2 nights in Taichung.
  • Add: 1–2 nights around Sun Moon Lake.
  • Best for: food, culture and nature without a long detour.
  • Continue next: Tainan.
Best cultural stop

Tainan

Taiwan’s historic southern city is an excellent follow-up to Taipei, particularly for temples, heritage streets, local snacks and a slower urban atmosphere.

  • Suggested time: 2–3 nights.
  • Best for: history, temples and food.
  • Advantage: easy to combine with high-speed rail.
  • Continue next: Kaohsiung.
Best southern finish

Kaohsiung

A warmer port city with waterfront areas, public art, night markets and easy access to southern Taiwan. It works well as the final stop before returning north.

  • Suggested time: 2 nights.
  • Best for: waterfront walks, art and warmer weather.
  • Nearby option: add Kenting with more time.
  • Return: high-speed rail to Taipei for the flight home.

Suggested longer Taiwan route

12-night itinerary

Taipei to southern Taiwan

Taipei 5 nights
Taichung 2 nights
Tainan 3 nights
Kaohsiung 2 nights

This is the simplest first-time multi-city route because Taiwan’s west-coast cities are linked efficiently by rail.

15–16-night itinerary

Add Sun Moon Lake and a final Taipei night

Taipei 5 nights
Taichung / Sun Moon Lake 3–4 nights
Tainan 3 nights
Kaohsiung + final Taipei night 4 nights

This longer version creates a better balance between cities and scenery while keeping the final night in Taipei as protection before the international departure.

Dino tip: keep the final night in Taipei or near Taoyuan Airport when returning from southern Taiwan. It removes the risk of relying on a same-day long-distance train before the international flight.
Search Taipei hotels with Booking.com

Start with Taipei Main Station, Ximending, Zhongshan and Da’an. Filter for a review score of at least 8/10, private bathroom, air conditioning, recent cleanliness feedback and a short walk to an MRT station.

Before booking: verify the room size, whether the room has a window, soundproofing, cancellation conditions, exact MRT walking route, breakfast policy, luggage storage and check-in time.

Hotel prices, neighbourhood conditions, transport schedules and attraction access can change. Confirm the final accommodation total, room category, cancellation conditions, local transport, passport validity and current Taiwan entry requirements before booking.
