Kona, Hawaii
from €663.98 return
About this deal
This is a very interesting Hawaii fare: Frankfurt to Kona on the Big Island from €663.98 return,
booked directly with Condor.
It is Economy Classic and includes a 23 kg checked bag,
an 8 kg cabin bag, a standard meal, soft drinks and seatback entertainment.
The trip I checked is 28 January – 6 February 2027, giving you 9 hotel nights.
The outbound is especially good for Hawaii: one stop in Seattle, a 2h09 connection
and 19h14 total journey time.
The main catch is the return. You still only stop once, but there is a 7h40 wait in Seattle,
bringing the total return journey to 23h41.
I also found Kauai from €673.98 return on a similar Condor + Alaska Airlines itinerary.
For a nine-night trip I prefer the Big Island because it gives you more room for a proper road trip,
but both islands are excellent options.

What makes it interesting
I found OTA prices roughly €15–€20 cheaper through flight-search sites.
For this trip, I would still book directly with Condor at €663.98 return.
The saving is small, the itinerary uses Condor and Alaska Airlines, and you are connecting in the United States.
For me, paying a little extra to have the booking directly with the airline is worth it here.
The outbound connection in Seattle is only 2h09, but the return has a 7h40 daytime wait. I would not hide that: it is the main reason the journey score is not higher.
Booking options
This is the option I would choose. The OTA saving I found was only around €15–€20, which is not enough for me to move a multi-airline Hawaii booking away from the airline.
Check Kona on Condor →Kauai was also available at an excellent price. I prefer Kona for a nine-night road trip, but this is a strong alternative if Kauai is your priority.
Check Kauai on Condor →Five Kona combinations and four Lihue/Kauai combinations are listed below. I am sending all booking traffic directly to Condor rather than to the slightly cheaper OTA results.
The flight price is excellent for Hawaii and the baggage allowance is unusually useful. The big compromise is the long Seattle connection on the way home, while Hawaii itself is not a cheap destination once you land.

Hawaii hotel guide · Kona + Kauai
Both of the Hawaii fares I found give you around 9 hotel nights. For Kona / the Big Island, I would split the stay between the west coast and the Hilo / Volcano side. For Kauai, I would split between the south/east side and the north shore rather than using one hotel for the whole trip.
The flights are cheap; the accommodation usually is not. I would lock in a good free-cancellation rate soon after booking the flights, keep Karma active, and recheck the same room and conditions later.
💰 Dino hotel booking method
On both islands, location matters more than shaving a few euros off the room. Decide which side of the island you want to explore, then compare hotels there.
Once you find a hotel you like, let Karma check whether another seller has the same room for less. Always compare resort fees, taxes and cancellation conditions.
Compare the final total one more time before paying. In Hawaii I would usually prefer a refundable rate over saving a small amount on a restrictive booking.
⏳ How I would use 9 nights
Stay around Kailua-Kona or Waikoloa for beaches, snorkelling, sunsets and easier access to the west coast.
Move to Hilo or Volcano if you want to explore the wetter east side and Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park without huge daily drives.
Base yourself around Poipu, Koloa or Lihue for easier access to the south and east of the island.
Move north towards Princeville or Hanalei if weather and prices cooperate. It saves a lot of backtracking.
📍 Best areas to stay · Big Island
The easiest all-round base for a first stay. Restaurants, shops, sunsets and quick access to many west-coast activities.
Better if you want a resort-style stay and good beaches. Usually more expensive than central Kona.
Greener, more local and convenient for waterfalls, the east coast and the Volcanoes side of the island.
Best if the national park is a priority. I would stay a night or two rather than repeatedly driving from Kona.
📍 Best areas to stay · Kauai
My first choice for a classic holiday base. Good beaches, restaurants and a convenient position for the south shore.
Very practical for the airport and central for exploring different parts of the island, though less atmospheric than Poipu or Hanalei.
A strong north-shore base with dramatic scenery and easier access to Hanalei and the northern beaches.
Beautiful and atmospheric, but usually one of the pricier places to stay. Worth comparing carefully before committing.
🌎 What I would prioritise on each island
Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park is one of the main reasons I prefer Kona for a longer trip. Give it proper time rather than treating it as a quick stop.
Stargazing and high-altitude scenery are completely different from the beach side of the island.
One of the island's must-see areas and a good reason to have your own car rather than relying on organised transfers.
Boat trips, viewpoints and hiking opportunities make the north-west side of Kauai the island's big scenic highlight.
⚠️ Hawaii practical survival kit
Some hotels charge substantial nightly parking fees. Check this before comparing two otherwise similar properties.
Always look at the final total. A hotel that appears cheaper can become the more expensive option once mandatory fees are added.
I would value a room with a fridge or basic kitchen facilities if the price difference is reasonable.
Both islands have very different microclimates. Check conditions for the exact area rather than relying on one island-wide forecast.
On both islands I would keep most days flexible, but a few activities can be worth reserving in advance — especially popular boat trips, volcano tours and limited-capacity experiences.
Check volcano, snorkelling, manta ray and Mauna Kea experiences.
Explore Big Island activities →Check Na Pali Coast, Waimea Canyon and island tours.
Explore Kauai activities →A few useful extras that can make the journey easier, particularly when travelling with restrictive cabin-bag fares, arriving late or needing mobile data as soon as you land.
A useful packing solution when you are trying to fit more clothing
into a restricted cabin bag.
Particularly relevant for travellers using airlines such as
Ryanair and Wizz Air, where baggage dimensions and
additional luggage fees can significantly change the final cost of a
cheap flight.
Compress your clothing and make better use of the space available
