Yangon
from £471 return
About this deal
A rare sub-£500 full-service fare from London Gatwick to Yangon,
flying China Southern with one connection in Guangzhou each way.
The reference itinerary is 7–16 December 2026 and TravelUp via Skyscanner UK
showed £470.84 return.
The reference fare includes 1 personal item, 1 cabin bag up to 55 × 40 × 23 cm
and 1 × 23 kg checked bag. The Guangzhou connections are also very sensible:
2h30 outbound and 2h25 return.
This is one I would position for experienced or adventure-oriented travellers.
Myanmar is not a normal low-friction leisure destination right now, so anyone considering the trip should
check the latest official travel advice, entry requirements and insurance conditions before booking.

Fare proof
TravelUp showed the reference itinerary at £470.84 return. The six date combinations checked were generally in the £471–£478 range.

Important travel-advisory note
Myanmar currently requires more planning and risk assessment than a normal city-break destination. Before booking, check the latest government travel advice for your nationality, current entry requirements and whether your travel insurance covers the itinerary. Conditions can change at short notice.
Experienced independent travellers, repeat Southeast Asia visitors, photographers and adventure travellers may find this a fascinating fare. If you simply want an easy first-time Asia holiday, I would choose somewhere more straightforward.

Booking options
Skyscanner may show several UK-facing agencies close to the TravelUp price. Compare the final total and change/support terms before paying.
Compare sellers →This is the option used for the price proof. TravelUp is familiar to many UK travellers and was the cheapest option found for the reference dates.
Check TravelUp via Skyscanner →On a trip like this, I would pay close attention to changes, cancellation terms and support. If another seller costs only a little more but gives you better conditions, that may be worth it.
Recheck the live fare →Six useful combinations were found from late November through mid-December, generally around £471–£478 return.
Good fare, significant destination caveat. The airfare itself is much stronger than 7.2 — the price, routing, connections and baggage are all excellent. The overall score is deliberately reduced because Myanmar requires considerably more risk assessment and planning than a normal leisure destination.

Dino hotel guide · Yangon
The reference flight arrives in Yangon on 8 December 2026 and departs on 16 December, giving you 8 hotel nights. Under normal circumstances I would say 3–4 nights is enough for the main Yangon sights, but Myanmar is not a normal leisure destination right now. For this trip I would prioritise a conservative, well-planned stay rather than trying to cover the country aggressively.
My advice for this page is therefore relative risk, not a guarantee of safety. Always check your own government’s latest advice and your insurance cover before booking.
How long should you stay in Yangon?
Yangon is a large city, but the core visitor highlights do not require a full week.
A 3–4 night stay gives you time for Shwedagon Pagoda, downtown colonial architecture,
Bogyoke Market, Kandawgyi Lake and a slower food / neighbourhood day.
With an 8-night ticket, I would not automatically turn the remaining nights into an overland Myanmar circuit.
Current road security, checkpoints, curfews and regional restrictions can change quickly.
If you decide to travel despite the warnings, I would keep the itinerary flexible and confirm local conditions again immediately before departure.
Where to stay in Yangon
Hotel selection matters more here than usual: prioritise a registered, established property with 24-hour reception, reliable power backup, airport transfer support and recent guest reviews. Avoid choosing a remote hotel simply because it is cheaper.
Booking.com + Karma + Trivago strategy
In Yangon I would put reliability ahead of the absolute cheapest price. Use Booking.com to shortlist a well-reviewed registered hotel, then let Karma check whether the same property and room are cheaper elsewhere.
Keep the extension active before searching.
Use 8–16 December 2026 and your exact guest count.
Recent reviews, 24-hour desk, backup power and transport support matter.
If it surfaces the same stay for less, follow Karma’s own redirect.
If Karma finds nothing useful, do one last like-for-like comparison.
Do not save £10 and lose flexibility. On this destination, free cancellation, clear payment terms and responsive support can be worth more than the very lowest headline rate.
Which parts of Myanmar are relatively lower-risk?
My practical take: I would not publish Bagan, Mandalay or Inle Lake as routine add-ons right now. If you travel, keep the itinerary centred on Yangon unless up-to-date local and official advice supports something more ambitious.
