The late Rome departure is convenient for an overnight journey, while the 17:55 Phuket arrival is suitable for an evening hotel check-in.
The 1h25 connection is efficient but relatively tight. When all flights are issued on one protected Etihad ticket, the airline is responsible for rebooking after a misconnection.

Phuket offers an impressive range of high-quality accommodation. Well-rated 5-star hotels can sometimes start from approximately €90 per night, although beachfront resorts, meal plans and the most desirable areas can cost considerably more. For the sample stay from 8–16 December 2026, our handpicked option is Avista Grande Phuket Karon – MGallery, a polished 5-star hotel in Karon with breakfast and dinner included in the displayed rate.
Avista Grande Phuket Karon – MGallery
This is a strong choice for travellers who want to turn the discounted Business Class trip into a genuinely premium holiday. The hotel combines a distinctive MGallery design, spacious rooms, two swimming pools, spa and wellness facilities, fitness facilities and easy access to the Karon and Kata beach areas.
Karon is one of the best-balanced bases in Phuket. It is calmer and more relaxed than Patong, but still offers restaurants, shops, nightlife and convenient access to excursions. Kata is nearby, while Phuket Old Town, viewpoints and boat-trip departure points remain reachable by taxi or organised transfer.
The attached search for 8–16 December 2026 showed a spacious Deluxe Mountain View room with king bed and balcony from approximately €1,790 total for eight nights and two adults. Breakfast and dinner were included, working out at roughly €224 per room per night.
How long should you stay in Phuket?
Suitable for one beach base, a visit to Phuket Old Town and one island or boat excursion. It works, but the trip will feel relatively compact.
The sweet spot for most travellers. This allows beach time, Old Town, viewpoints, relaxation at the hotel and two or three excursions without rushing.
Ideal for a slower resort holiday or a split stay combining Karon with Khao Lak, Koh Yao, Krabi or another contrasting part of southern Thailand.
Best areas to stay in Phuket
Excellent all-round base with a long beach, good hotel choice and a calmer atmosphere than Patong. Our preferred area for this deal.
Strong for couples, families, restaurants and a more compact beach-town atmosphere. Conveniently close to Karon.
Better for upscale resorts, beach clubs and quieter premium stays, usually at a higher overall price.
Patong suits nightlife and activity, while Old Town provides architecture, markets and local character away from the main resort beaches.
Should you stay in more than one place?
For an eight-night holiday, staying in Karon throughout is the simplest option. Use organised excursions for Phi Phi, Phang Nga Bay, Old Town and nearby beaches.
A good split for travellers wanting Phuket’s restaurants and excursions followed by a quieter beach-resort atmosphere north of the island.
Best for a wider southern-Thailand experience, but allow enough transfer time and avoid changing hotels too frequently.
Where to go next if time permits
The classic boat-trip options from Phuket, best treated as organised day tours unless you specifically want an overnight island stay.
A strong extension for limestone scenery, beaches and a different resort atmosphere from Phuket.
Add Bangkok for food, temples and city energy, or Chiang Mai for culture and northern Thailand if your overall holiday is long enough.
Compare Avista Grande Phuket Karon – MGallery with other options in Karon, Kata, Kamala, Bang Tao, Patong and Phuket Old Town. Check whether breakfast, dinner, taxes and transfers are included, and compare non-refundable prices with flexible-cancellation rates before paying.
