About this deal
A rare short-haul opportunity to fly
Ethiopian Airlines Business Class
between Manchester and Geneva
on a genuine long-haul Airbus A350 lie-flat product.
The featured reference trip is
28 December 2026 – 4 January 2027,
making it especially interesting for a
New Year's Eve trip to Geneva or the Alps.
Cheaper dates were also found from
£468 return,
including 22–28 March 2027.
The fare includes an exceptional
2 × 23 kg checked baggage allowance.
That makes this more than a novelty:
it can be genuinely useful for travellers carrying extra luggage
or heading towards the Alps for a ski trip.
A lie-flat seat is obviously not necessary on a flight of around two hours.
The real appeal is the chance to
sample Ethiopian's long-haul Business Class product
before committing to a much longer premium-cabin journey.

Fare details + catches
You do not need a lie-flat seat on a journey this short. The appeal is that this is a rare and relatively inexpensive way to try Ethiopian's genuine long-haul Business Class product before deciding whether you would book it on a much longer journey. The A350 itself also makes this a much more unusual European Business Class experience.
Geneva is a major gateway towards the Alps, and the included 2 × 23 kg checked baggage allowance makes this fare much more practical for travellers carrying bulky winter luggage. Always confirm any specific sports-equipment rules with Ethiopian Airlines before booking.
The selected flights are shown with the Airbus A350 and lie-flat Business Class. As with any airline, an aircraft change can occur operationally, so I would recheck the aircraft and seat product before payment and again closer to departure.

Booking options
This is the featured reference trip because it covers New Year's Eve. Use the prepared Skyscanner link to open the exact dates, then choose Ethiopian Airlines directly where available.
CHECK NYE DATES →The 22–28 March 2027 combination was found from £468 return. This gives you the same unusual A350 Business Class experience at the lowest fare found in this availability sweep.
CHECK £468 DATES →Eleven prepared combinations were found across November and December 2026, plus March, April and May 2027. The 28 December–4 January trip is the New Year's Eve reference. The 22–28 March option is the cheapest fare found at £468 return.
This is not a one-date fare. Availability includes Christmas and New Year's Eve combinations, as well as several spring options if you are more interested in trying the product than travelling during peak winter dates.
A genuinely unusual European Business Class deal: direct A350 flights, lie-flat seats, 2 × 23 kg checked baggage, Christmas and New Year's Eve availability and cheaper spring dates from £468 return. Geneva's high on-ground costs are the main weakness.

Geneva hotel playbook
The reference Ethiopian Airlines itinerary arrives in Geneva on 28 December 2026 at 21:20 and leaves on 4 January 2027 at 07:15. That gives you 7 hotel nights in Geneva, covering New Year's Eve. For this trip, I would prioritise a central location with easy public-transport access, reliable late check-in, luggage storage, and clear holiday-period cancellation terms.
Geneva is compact, but hotel prices can rise sharply over the festive period. For a seven-night stay, I would compare City Centre / Rive Gauche, Old Town, Eaux-Vives and Cornavin before choosing purely on nightly price.

Dino hotel booking method
Find 3–5 hotels in the area you actually want. For Geneva, compare recent reviews, exact location, late check-in, public-transport access, breakfast, cancellation terms, room size, and the final seven-night total.
Once you have a room you like, let Karma check whether another seller has the same room for less. Only switch if the room type, guest count, taxes, breakfast, cancellation policy, payment conditions, and any mandatory local charges genuinely match.
Before paying, search the same hotel and dates on Trivago and compare the final stay total one more time. If the saving is small, favour the option with the clearest conditions and the booking platform you trust more.
How many hotel nights?
Check in: 28 December.
Check out: 4 January.
Arrival is at 21:20. Choose a property with reliable late check-in and a straightforward route from Geneva Airport.
Seven nights gives you enough time for Geneva itself, New Year's Eve, and one or two Alpine or lakeside day trips.
Departure is at 07:15. Plan the airport transfer the night before and verify early-morning transport times.
Best areas to stay
City Centre / Rive Gauche
Best for first-time visitors who want easy access to the lake, shopping, restaurants, and the main central sights.
Old Town
Atmospheric and walkable, with historic streets and landmarks. Ideal if charm matters more than being beside the main station.
Eaux-Vives
A lively lakeside base with restaurants, local neighbourhood character, and good access to the centre.
Cornavin
Very practical for the railway station, airport connections, and day trips. Particularly useful with your late arrival and early departure.
How I would use the 7-night stay
Give the city several days for the Old Town, lakefront, museums, neighbourhoods, restaurants, and a relaxed New Year's Eve period.
Keep one day flexible for a lakeside excursion, depending on winter weather and holiday transport schedules.
Geneva is a natural gateway to the Alps, so a ski day or organised mountain excursion can fit well into a seven-night stay.
Keep 31 December relatively flexible and avoid an overpacked schedule before evening celebrations.
Where to go next from Geneva
Geneva is also a very useful starting point for a wider Switzerland or cross-border France trip. If you have extra time, these are the places I would look at first.
Lausanne, Switzerland
A very easy continuation around Lake Geneva, with a lively centre, waterfront, museums, and good onward rail connections.
Montreux, Switzerland
One of the best lake-and-mountain combinations in the region, with a scenic waterfront and easy access to nearby Alpine scenery.
Zermatt, Switzerland
A stronger mountain extension if you want to turn the trip into a proper winter or ski holiday, with the Matterhorn as the main draw.
Chamonix, France
An obvious cross-border Alpine option for skiing, mountain scenery, and Mont Blanc. It works especially well with the generous baggage allowance on this fare.
Annecy, France
A compact and attractive lakeside city that makes a very easy France add-on if you want something calmer and more romantic than Geneva.
Lyon, France
A good next stop for food, architecture, and a bigger-city contrast to Geneva, particularly if you want to continue deeper into France.
Dangers + what to look out for
Geneva is generally very easy for visitors, but the festive period brings high prices, increased demand, winter weather, and a few practical issues worth checking before you book.
Use normal big-city precautions around Cornavin station, public transport, Christmas and New Year crowds, and busy tourist areas.
New Year's Eve can push hotel and restaurant prices sharply higher. Compare the complete seven-night total before committing to the flight.
Festive-period rates can have stricter cancellation and prepayment terms. Check the conditions carefully before paying.
Expect cold weather, possible ice, and changing mountain conditions. Check footwear, heating reviews, and excursion cancellation policies.
You land at 21:20. Verify the hotel's late check-in policy and your preferred airport-transfer option before departure.
The 07:15 flight requires a very early start. Confirm transport operating times rather than assuming normal daytime frequency.
If you are heading into the Alps, check transfer times, weather disruption policies, luggage capacity, and any ski-equipment rules in advance.
Pay attention to repeated complaints about heating, noise, small rooms, poor late check-in, weak soundproofing, or unexpected charges.
Practical booking notes
You land at 21:20. Prioritise a hotel with clearly confirmed late check-in so the first night is straightforward.
New Year's Eve is a peak-demand period. Flexible rates may cost more, but they can be worth it if your plans are not completely fixed.
A small nightly difference becomes meaningful across seven nights, so compare the complete stay price rather than only the headline nightly rate.
Your return leaves at 07:15. Verify the first airport trains, buses, taxis, or hotel transfer options before the final night.
For a seven-night New Year's trip, I would prioritise experiences where organised transport or a guide genuinely simplifies winter logistics.
