The dates I found are in September 2026, a particularly attractive time for Istria: still warm enough for a coastal trip, but generally outside the most intense July-August peak.
The main weakness is the 07:00 departure from Gatwick. It is not quite as brutal as some 06:00 departures, but anyone coming from central London will still need a very early start.
Booking is straightforward: the fare can be booked directly with TUI, which is a major plus at this price point.

The arrival is excellent because you are in Istria by mid-morning. The compromise is getting to Gatwick for a 07:00 departure, which still means a very early start if you live in central London.

New communityPula is a very useful airport for exploring Istria, and you do not need to spend the whole trip in Pula itself. For a short 4-night stay, I would normally choose one base. For the 7-night combinations, splitting the trip between Pula and another coastal town can make much more sense.
The good news is that Istria gives you very different styles of stay within a relatively compact region: Roman history in Pula, postcard old-town atmosphere in Rovinj, island access from Fažana, and beaches around Medulin / Premantura.
Do not compare only central Pula. For a 7-night stay I would also check Rovinj, Fažana, Medulin and Premantura before booking. Apartments can be particularly useful in Croatia if you want more space or plan to stay for a full week.
4 nights Pula with one day trip to Rovinj, Fažana/Brijuni or Cape Kamenjak. Simple and no hotel change needed.
3 nights Pula + 4 nights Rovinj. A very good first Istria trip with two genuinely different bases.
3 nights Pula + 4 nights Medulin / Premantura. Better if you want swimming and coastal time rather than another historic town.
Base yourself in Pula or Fažana for the full week and use day trips. This is the easiest choice if you are travelling without a car.
