and Etihad's Economy Value fare shown for the same itinerary includes

The reference trip is 2–16 March 2027. You arrive in Krabi on 3 March,
giving you 13 hotel nights. The routing is unusually clean for a Thailand fare at this price:
just one stop in Abu Dhabi each way, with a 2h20 connection outbound
and 1h40 on the return.
The cheapest reference fare is sold by Bravofly via Skyscanner Austria, so the booking flow is
in German. If you prefer to book directly with the airline, Etihad was €505 return
on the same Skyscanner results — only €36 more. Simply select Etihad from the vendor list.
I found more dates around this price level, but many involve an overnight connection in Abu Dhabi
on either the outbound or return. I have deliberately left those out and only prepared the cleaner combinations below.

What makes this fare worth considering
There are more combinations around this fare level, but many include an overnight Abu Dhabi connection on either the outbound or return. Those may technically be cheap, but I do not consider them equally good itineraries. The four prepared dates below are the cleaner options I would focus on.
You depart Vienna on 2 March, arrive in Krabi on 3 March and fly home on 16 March, giving you 13 nights in Thailand.
Bravofly showed the reference itinerary at €468.98 / €469 return through Skyscanner Austria. The checkout flow is in German.
Etihad's direct option was around €505 return. The Economy Value fare includes 25 kg checked baggage.

Excellent price, strong one-stop schedules, proper checked baggage and a very attractive direct-airline alternative. Availability is good rather than exceptional because I am excluding the many cheap combinations that require an overnight Abu Dhabi connection.

Krabi hotel playbook
The reference itinerary gives you 13 hotel nights, arriving in Krabi on 3 March 2027 and flying home on 16 March 2027. That is long enough to enjoy Krabi properly and still add Koh Lanta, Railay or another southern Thailand stop without turning the trip into a constant hotel change.
Do not search only for “Krabi”. The best base depends on the trip you want: Ao Nang for convenience, Railay for scenery, Klong Muang / Tubkaek for a quieter resort stay, or Krabi Town for lower prices and local atmosphere. Choose the area first, then compare the exact same room conditions.

⏳ How many nights in Krabi?
Enough for a quick Ao Nang stay, one island day and a little downtime, but it can feel rushed.
My preferred range for a first Krabi trip. You can mix beach time, Railay and a couple of excursions without cramming the schedule.
Great if the main goal is to slow down, spend more time by the sea and avoid changing hotels too often.
More than enough for Krabi alone, so I would use part of the trip for Koh Lanta, Khao Sok or another southern Thailand stop.
📍 Best areas to stay in Krabi
The easiest first-time base: plenty of hotels, restaurants, tours and boat connections. It is convenient rather than secluded.
The dramatic limestone-cliff option. Excellent for scenery and a more memorable stay, but access is by boat and prices can be higher.
Better for a quieter resort-style holiday with less bustle than Ao Nang. A good choice if beach time matters more than nightlife.
Usually cheaper and more local, with markets and food close by. I would choose it for value or a short stop rather than for a classic beach holiday.
🌎 How I would use the 13 nights
A practical base for arrival, restaurants, boat trips and easy access to Railay.
Slower, more relaxed island time and a natural second stop after Krabi.
Optional splurge for the cliffs and beach atmosphere without committing the whole trip to boat-only access.
Keep the final night near your preferred transport route so the flight home is stress-free.
⚠️ Krabi practical survival kit
Railay and many island trips depend on boats. Leave some buffer in the schedule, especially around your final travel day.
Plan outdoor activities earlier in the day and leave room for slower afternoons by the pool or beach.
Airport transfers, boat tickets and island-hopping transport are part of the real trip cost, so include them when comparing hotels.
In Ao Nang, a well-rated hotel a few streets back can be considerably cheaper while still being close to restaurants and tours.
Island-hopping, Railay, snorkelling, kayaking and nature trips are easy to add from Krabi. I would book the experiences that genuinely improve the trip and leave plenty of unplanned beach time.
