Availability is much better than expected, with good schedules identified from November 2026 through April 2027. The main exception is the 22 December–4 January Christmas/New Year trip, which has a much longer Nairobi transit. That itinerary can still work for travellers who value the holiday dates and are comfortable resting in the lounge.

Lilongwe is not a typical Business Class deal destination. The value here is the combination of a niche African destination, proper lie-flat long-haul sectors, generous baggage and a direct-airline fare around the €2,000 mark. The 2-2-2 cabin is not as private as a modern 1-2-1 product, but it is still a genuine fully flat Business Class bed for the overnight long-haul flights.
The reference Kenya Airways checkout shows rebooking for a €159 penalty and refundability for a €212 penalty per passenger for the entire ticket, together with 2 × 32 kg checked baggage, meals, priority boarding and security fast lane where available. Always recheck the final fare conditions before payment.
This is the one prepared combination with a significantly worse Nairobi transit. If those holiday dates are important, Kenya Airways Business Class passengers have lounge access in Nairobi. Kenya Airways lists the Asante Lounge as open 24 hours with showers, food and comfortable seating, while the Pride Lounge is described with a dedicated napping area and sleeper beds. Lounge opening/access conditions and sleeping-space availability can change, so recheck before travel. Use the first one or two nights to recover from the flights, get cash / connectivity sorted and organise the next part of the trip.
With eleven nights, I would seriously consider several nights by the lake rather than keeping the entire trip in the capital.
If wildlife is part of the plan, add a proper multi-night stay rather than forcing a long road day trip from Lilongwe.
I would be back in Lilongwe by the final night before the international flight rather than depending on a long same-day road transfer.

If you are moving between cities, lake areas or lodges, plan road journeys for daylight where possible and build realistic travel times into the itinerary.
