Mumbai
from €341 return
About this deal
This is a particularly strong long-haul economy fare because the cheap price does not require a connection: Athens to Mumbai nonstop in both directions. I found prepared Booking.com combinations from roughly €341 to €391 return, with the best reference itinerary at €341 return.
The IndiGo Saver fare includes 7kg cabin baggage + 30kg checked baggage, plus complimentary hot meals and non-alcoholic drinks. Seat selection is chargeable and in-flight entertainment is streamed to your own device.
IndiGo direct was available from around €358 return. With only about €17 difference versus the cheapest Booking.com fare, I would personally lean toward booking directly with the airline for the simpler point of contact if anything changes.
Airline: IndiGo
Routing: Nonstop both ways
Fare: Saver
Cabin baggage: 7kg included
Checked baggage: 30kg included
IndiGo direct from: €358
Typical flight schedule
IndiGo nonstop
Athens 14:35 → Mumbai 00:45+1
Journey time: 7h40
A very clean daytime departure from Athens with no connection or airport change. The only small compromise is the after-midnight arrival in Mumbai.
IndiGo nonstop
Mumbai 07:55 → Athens 13:00
Journey time: 7h35
The morning departure gets you back into Athens early afternoon without losing the rest of the day to a connection.
Baggage + fare details
A €341 nonstop return fare would already be strong. Add 30kg checked baggage, a 7kg cabin allowance and meals, and the overall package becomes unusually good value for a Europe–India trip.
Booking direct is worth a serious look here. IndiGo was around €358 return when checked — only about €17 more than the €341 Booking.com reference fare. For that difference, I would personally prefer dealing directly with the airline.

BOMMumbaiBooking options
The lowest reference fare was €341 return. Booking.com is the cheapest option across the prepared searches, with the fare still including the IndiGo Saver baggage package.
Check the €341 reference fare →Only about €17 more than the cheapest Booking.com reference fare. For such a small difference, I would personally book direct and keep the operating airline as the point of contact.
Search directly on IndiGo →This is one of the reasons the fare scores so highly. The Saver package includes 30kg checked baggage, 7kg cabin baggage and complimentary hot meals and non-alcoholic drinks.
Compare IndiGo fares →Availability is a major strength here. I found 15 prepared combinations from late September through mid-November 2026, with fares ranging from roughly €341 to €391 return. The links below open the prepared Booking.com searches; always recheck the live fare before paying.
Outstanding nonstop value with unusually generous baggage. €341 return for Athens–Mumbai nonstop is already exceptional; adding 30kg checked baggage, 7kg cabin baggage, meals and a direct-airline option only about €17 higher makes this one of the stronger economy deals I have seen recently.

Mumbai hotel playbook
Mumbai is enormous and traffic can turn a short distance into a long journey, so for me the first decision is the area. For a first leisure trip I would normally start with Colaba / Fort, Marine Drive / Churchgate or Bandra West, depending on whether you want classic sightseeing, a central South Mumbai base, or a more local restaurant-and-nightlife feel. With the longer flight dates on this deal, I would usually spend 3–4 nights in Mumbai and use the remaining days to explore more of India.
In Mumbai, location can matter more than saving another €10–€15 per night. A cheaper hotel far from the sights you want can easily cost you time and transport every day. Compare the area and final total, then keep Karma switched on while you search.
💰 Dino hotel booking method
Pick the neighbourhood around the things you actually want to do. In Mumbai, avoiding one unnecessary cross-city journey every day can save a surprising amount of time.
Leave Karma active while browsing Booking.com so it can compare prices in the background.
If Karma finds nothing useful, do one final like-for-like comparison before paying.
⏳ How many nights in Mumbai?
Fine for the Gateway of India, Colaba, Marine Drive and one good food-focused evening, but it will feel rushed if you also want museums, markets and Bandra.
Enough for South Mumbai, Marine Drive, a museum or two, a proper food day and some time in Bandra without racing around.
My preferred balance for a first visit: enough time for Colaba and Fort, Marine Drive, museums, markets and at least one proper food-focused day.
Great if Mumbai itself is the focus, but on a longer India trip I would usually start moving on to Goa, Rajasthan or another region.
📍 Best areas to stay in Mumbai
My first search for most first-time visitors: close to the Gateway of India, museums, heritage buildings, restaurants and many classic Mumbai sights.
Very convenient for South Mumbai with easy access to Marine Drive, Fort, museums and the seafront. A strong all-round sightseeing base.
Better for cafés, restaurants, bars and a more local modern-Mumbai feel. Great for evenings, but less convenient if most of your sightseeing is in South Mumbai.
Modern hotels, malls and restaurants with a more business-oriented feel. Useful if you prefer newer properties and do not mind travelling to the classic sights.
🚀 Where to go next — perfect for the longer dates
Goa
The easiest beach extension from Mumbai, with plenty of flight and train options. A great way to slow the trip down after a few intense city days.
Udaipur
Lakes, palaces and a much slower rhythm than Mumbai. A beautiful Rajasthan add-on if you want history and atmosphere without doing a huge circuit.
Jaipur
Palaces, forts, markets and excellent food. Easy to combine with Delhi if you want to turn the trip into a wider north-India itinerary.
Aurangabad
The practical gateway for the Ajanta and Ellora caves. A very different cultural extension and relatively easy to reach from Mumbai.
Kerala
Consider Kochi and the backwaters if you want a greener, slower side of India with great food and a very different atmosphere from Mumbai.
Delhi & Agra
If you have a longer trip, fly north for Delhi and add Agra for the Taj Mahal. It works well as a separate second chapter of the trip.
⚠️ Mumbai survival kit
A short-looking journey can take much longer at busy times. Group sights by neighbourhood instead of crossing the city repeatedly.
BOM is north of the classic South Mumbai sights. Build plenty of traffic time into airport runs, especially at peak hours.
Uber and Ola are useful for many journeys. For airport runs and late-night trips, use official or app-based transport rather than random offers.
Mumbai can stay hot and humid even outside the monsoon. Lightweight clothes, water and a hotel with good air-conditioning make a real difference.
City tours, Elephanta Caves, food walks, market tours, Bollywood experiences and private sightseeing — browse first, then book only what genuinely improves your trip.
A few useful extras that can make the journey easier, particularly when travelling with restrictive cabin-bag fares, arriving late or needing mobile data as soon as you land.
A useful packing solution when you are trying to fit more clothing
into a restricted cabin bag.
Particularly relevant for travellers using airlines such as
Ryanair and Wizz Air, where baggage dimensions and
additional luggage fees can significantly change the final cost of a
cheap flight.
