This Qatar Airways Business Class fare from
Bucharest to Kathmandu has become significantly more attractive than when we previously published it.
Our new reference itinerary is

putting you in Nepal during one of the strongest periods of the year for clearer skies,
mountain views, sightseeing and trekking.
Mytrip fares through
Skyscanner Malta were generally around €1,725-€1,768,
while Qatar Airways direct was around €1,821 and is also listed as a seller inside Skyscanner.
We found Skyscanner Malta to be approximately
€15-€20 cheaper than several other Skyscanner markets.

For roughly €96 more than the lowest Mytrip fare,
booking directly with Qatar Airways would be our preferred option.
Skyscanner Malta was around €15-€20 cheaper
than several other markets we checked, while still offering an English booking flow and EUR payment.
Mytrip prices were generally around €1,725-€1,768. Qatar Airways direct was around €1,821. Prices and availability can change after publication.
The October reference dates are a major reason this deal scores so highly.
You are travelling immediately after the summer monsoon period,
when Nepal is particularly attractive for mountain visibility,
trekking and sightseeing.
The premium-cabin product is also strong:
the Doha-Kathmandu sectors are shown on a
Boeing 787 with a 1-2-1 private-suite layout,
while the Bucharest-Doha sectors use an A320 with
2-2 full-flat Business Class seating.
The biggest weakness is the return itinerary.
You arrive in Doha from Kathmandu at
20:15 and do not depart for Bucharest until
02:55, creating a
6h40 overnight connection.
Business Class makes this significantly easier to tolerate,
but it is still a long wait and is the main reason the schedule does not score higher.
You may also see lower headline prices from
lol.travel in some Skyscanner results.
We do not use those lower prices for this deal because during our own checks
the displayed fare could increase later in the payment process.
Our preferred options are Mytrip or Qatar Airways direct.
Mytrip produced the best prices we were comfortable featuring.

This is the option I would personally choose.
Qatar Airways was only around
€96 more than the lowest Mytrip fare on the reference itinerary.
Qatar is also listed directly as a provider inside Skyscanner,
so simply select Qatar Airways from the available sellers if you prefer airline-direct booking.
On a Business Class ticket of this value,
the small premium is worthwhile for simpler airline support if the schedule changes or you need assistance after booking.
Availability is excellent, with example combinations from August 2026 through February 2027. For Nepal, I would prioritise the October and November dates. We also found a Christmas and New Year combination for a higher fare of around €1,964.
An excellent premium-cabin fare combining Qatar Airways Business Class, prime Nepal season, strong baggage allowance and extensive date availability. The long overnight Doha connection on the return is the one meaningful compromise.

One of the nice surprises in Kathmandu is that 5-star hotels can still be reasonably priced. On many dates you can find upscale stays starting from roughly €80 per room per night, which makes the city an easy place to enjoy a more comfortable start or finish to a Nepal trip.
For this deal our pick is Hotel Barahi Kathmandu. It looks like a very good city-base option for a couple of nights in the capital before heading towards the mountains, combining a central Thamel-area location, a strong review profile, breakfast-included rates and 5-star comfort without moving into a crazy luxury price bracket.
For most travelers I would keep Kathmandu as a 2 to 3 night stop. That is enough to recover from the international flight, see several key sights, eat well, organise anything you still need for onward travel and then continue towards the mountains without feeling rushed.
Perfect for first-timers: one easy arrival day, one full sightseeing day and one flexible day before heading onwards to Pokhara, a trekking region or the airport.
Fine if Kathmandu is mainly a gateway city for your mountains plan, but you will need to focus only on a few highlights and keep the pace higher.
Works if you want more temples, museums and day trips from the valley, but I would only stay this long if Kathmandu is a major part of the trip and not just a transit base.
For this Nepal trip we would choose Hotel Barahi Kathmandu, a 5-star property in the Thamel / Kantipath area that looks very well positioned for travelers who want a comfortable city base before going on to Pokhara, trekking regions or other mountain-focused stops.
The attached listing shows a strong 9.2/10 Booking.com rating from more than 1,000 reviews, with an excellent 9.6 location score. That is exactly the kind of review profile we like for a short premium city stay.
The hotel highlights also look strong: rooftop outdoor pool, modern rooms, free Wi-Fi, restaurant, bar, airport shuttle, tea/coffee facilities, free private parking and breakfast options. For Kathmandu, where the city can feel busy and intense, having a comfortable hotel to return to really matters.
Pricing was also very reasonable for a 5-star city stay. The displayed partner-offer rate started from around €317 for 3 nights, while the more flexible breakfast-included rates were shown at approximately €411 to €444 total. That means the flexible options come to roughly €137 to €148 per room per night, still very fair for a 5-star hotel with this rating profile.
If you are traveling as a couple, even the flexible rate splits down to about €68 to €74 per person per night. For a short stop in a destination where comfort, breakfast and location can make a big difference, this is the kind of small upgrade I would seriously consider.
Most importantly, the hotel works very well as a transition base: arrive in Nepal, spend a couple of days exploring the city and adjusting, then continue refreshed towards the mountains instead of trying to move onward immediately after landing.

Kathmandu is not really a destination where you choose between “beach areas” or “resort strips”: what matters most is being in a district that gives you a practical base for sightseeing, food and onward logistics.
One of the classic historic stops in the capital and a strong introduction to the city's heritage and atmosphere.
The “Monkey Temple” is one of the most iconic viewpoints in the valley and easy to combine with the city sightseeing plan.
A very worthwhile part of the city to experience, especially if you want a slower, more atmospheric side of Kathmandu.
Leave some time for practical things too: changing money, checking equipment, resting and preparing for the mountains.
Kathmandu is often the gateway rather than the final highlight. After a short city stay, the most logical move is to continue somewhere that gives you more of Nepal's mountain or nature side.
