Kiruna, Sweden -- winter landscape and iconic Icehotel experience in Swedish Lapland
RARE DEAL!

RARE DEAL! Direct flights from Dusseldorf to Kiruna, SWEDEN from €115 with Eurowings!

Published on: 27 July 2026
Airline
Eurowings
Baggage
1 small cabin bag included
Travel dates
13/02–20/02 & 13/03–20/03

Rare deal: direct Dusseldorf to Kiruna on Eurowings with two standout date windows: 13/02–20/02 for €115 and 13/03–20/03 for €130. Base fare includes 1 small cabin bag, which keeps entry cost low for a Lapland trip.

Kiruna is the gateway to Swedish Arctic winter adventures, and the world-famous Icehotel in nearby Jukkasjärvi is the dream stay — sculpted ice rooms, frozen art suites, and aurora nights under clear Lapland skies. Just know it is usually booked well in advance, so keep checking constantly for any possible availability from cancellations. This rare nonstop from Dusseldorf skips extra connections and gets you straight into northern Sweden.

We recommend booking this on Eurowings and adding a 23 kg checked bag for an additional €58, especially for winter clothing and boots. Confirm exact fare rules, baggage terms, and Sweden entry requirements for your passport before you pay.

Kiruna

Fly directly from Düsseldorf to Kiruna in Swedish Lapland with Eurowings from only €114.98 return. This is an unusually rare direct route to an expensive Arctic destination, with just two cheap date combinations currently identified. Booking directly with Eurowings is recommended for clearer baggage and ancillary pricing.

Booking information

Book directly with Eurowings. The lowest Basic fare is €114.98 return for 13–20 February 2027. A second cheap week, 13–20 March 2027, was available from approximately €130 return. These prices are not broadly available outside the two dates shown.

Dino’s recommended booking method
Book directly with Eurowings
From €114.98 return
  • Direct Eurowings flights both ways
  • Airbus A319 on the reference schedule
  • Basic fare includes one small under-seat bag
  • 23 kg checked baggage shown from an additional €58
  • Seats and other extras can be added during booking
  • Airline-direct support for changes and disruptions

Direct booking is especially useful here because winter travellers often need additional baggage for bulky clothing, boots and Arctic equipment.

Example with checked baggage
February fare plus 23 kg bag
Approximately €172.98 total
  • Base return fare: €114.98
  • Example 23 kg checked bag: +€58
  • Total shown: €172.98
  • Still excellent value for a direct Arctic route
  • Bag price may differ by date or booking stage
  • Confirm dimensions, weight and final total before payment

The baggage add-on is expensive relative to the flight, but the complete total remains very competitive for direct travel to Kiruna.

Reference direct flight schedule: 13–20 February 2027
Outbound · 3h10
Düsseldorf to Kiruna
Direct Eurowings flight
Düsseldorf → Kiruna EW9232 · Airbus A319
14:25 → 17:35

The afternoon departure is comfortable and the 17:35 arrival leaves enough time for an evening transfer and hotel check-in without arriving in the middle of the night.

Return · 3h00
Kiruna to Düsseldorf
Direct Eurowings flight
Kiruna → Düsseldorf EW9233 · Airbus A319
18:35 → 21:35

The evening return preserves most of the final day in Swedish Lapland, although travellers should plan the transfer to Kiruna Airport carefully in winter conditions.

Rare direct access to Swedish Lapland

Kiruna is often reached through a Scandinavian hub. A nonstop flight from Düsseldorf removes the connection risk and makes a short Arctic holiday considerably easier.

Both travel weeks are excellent for winter experiences

February offers deeper winter conditions and longer nights. March provides more daylight while usually retaining snow, Arctic activities and Northern Lights potential.

The Basic fare includes only a small cabin bag

A normal cabin trolley and checked baggage are not included in the headline fare. This is particularly important for an Arctic trip where winter clothing can require substantially more luggage space.

Only two cheap date combinations were found

This is not broad availability. The lowest fares are limited to 13–20 February 2027 and 13–20 March 2027, and the cheapest seats may sell quickly.

The complete Arctic trip can still be expensive

Accommodation, airport transfers, winter clothing, dog-sledding, snowmobile tours and other activities may cost considerably more than the flights. Check the total trip budget before booking.

Only two cheap weeks found — search the exact dates below

Use the Eurowings booking page and enter Düsseldorf as the departure airport, Kiruna as the destination and one of the exact date combinations shown.

Dino Scorecard

An exceptionally rare nonstop route to Swedish Lapland at a remarkably low fare. The direct schedule and winter travel dates are excellent; the tiny Basic baggage allowance and availability limited to only two dates are the main compromises.

9.4Rare Arctic bargain

From €114.98 return, this is one of the strongest short-haul destination deals currently identified.

Even the attached example with a 23 kg checked bag came to approximately €172.98 return.

The honest final Dino Score is 9.4/10.

Headline price
9.8/10

€114.98 return is exceptional for direct travel to a remote Arctic destination.

Price with 23 kg bag
9.4/10

The €172.98 example remains excellent value despite the substantial baggage supplement.

Direct routing
10/10

Nonstop flights both ways remove the usual Scandinavian connection.

Flight schedules
9.4/10

Afternoon departure, early-evening arrival and a late return preserve the trip well.

Travel period
9.5/10

February and March are highly attractive for snow, Arctic landscapes and winter activities.

Basic baggage
6.8/10

Only a small under-seat bag is included, which is restrictive for a winter trip.

Direct booking
9.6/10

Eurowings direct provides clear ancillary pricing and airline support.

Date availability
5.5/10

Only two exact date combinations are available at the cheap fare.

Destination rarity
9.8/10

Affordable nonstop access from Germany to Kiruna is a highly unusual opportunity.

Overall flight value
9.7/10

The rare route, low price and direct schedule comfortably outweigh the baggage limitation.

Why this deal stands out

Düsseldorf–Kiruna from only €114.98 return is an exceptional opportunity because the flights are direct in both directions, eliminating the usual Scandinavian connection. Both February and March are strong winter travel periods, and even the attached example with a 23 kg checked bag totals approximately €172.98. The honest weaknesses are the Basic fare’s tiny under-seat bag allowance, potentially expensive Arctic accommodation and activities, and availability restricted to only two cheap dates. Honest Dino Score: 9.4/10.

Hotel strategy in Kiruna

Kiruna is a special case. The iconic ICEHOTEL often gets booked out far in advance and, on our sample search, we could not find availability there for the main February week. You can still visit the ICEHOTEL art exhibition and bar with a day pass, but for accommodation it makes sense to secure a free-cancellation backup property first and keep checking the ICEHOTEL in case even a single night opens up. One of the most attractive alternatives we found was Aurora River Camp Glass igloos & cabins.

Booking score shown: 9.2 / 10 · Excellent location 9.7

Aurora River Camp Glass igloos & cabins

This is not a cheap mass-market stay, but it does solve the Kiruna problem very well: you get a memorable Arctic setting, highly rated accommodation and the sort of atmosphere many travellers were hoping to find at the ICEHOTEL in the first place. The strongest appeal is the glass-igloo / riverside winter experience, combined with strong guest reviews, private facilities and a location well suited to aurora-focused evenings.

On the attached sample search for 13 Feb – 20 Feb 2027, the lower-priced Reindeer Cabin was showing from approximately €1,239 for 1 week, while the more iconic Glass Igloo option was around €3,158 for 1 week. Both options showed free cancellation, which is particularly useful if you want to keep monitoring the ICEHOTEL or simply preserve flexibility in peak Northern Lights season.

Sample stay 13 Feb – 20 Feb 2027
Sample price From €1,239 / 7 nights
Property style Cabins + glass-igloo winter stay
Why we like it Great backup to ICEHOTEL with flexibility
Dino tip: In Kiruna, a free-cancellation strategy is worth far more than a tiny saving. Lock in something sensible first, then keep checking if the ICEHOTEL releases any last-minute accommodation or if a better aurora-style property appears.

How long should you stay in Kiruna?

3–4 nights

Enough for a short Arctic escape with one or two activities, some aurora watching and a day visit to the ICEHOTEL. Good if you are time-limited.

5–6 nights

The sweet spot for most travellers. This gives you more flexibility for weather, dog-sledding, snowmobiling, aurora hunting and a relaxed ICEHOTEL visit.

7 nights

Ideal if you want a full winter week, more chances of clear skies and time to mix quieter cabin evenings with activities and possible day trips.

Where should you stay around Kiruna?

Best booking strategy
  • Kiruna / riverside camp stays: often the safest option for confirmed February availability.
  • Free cancellation: strongly recommended in case the ICEHOTEL or a better option opens later.
  • Glass igloo or aurora camp: best if the accommodation itself is part of the experience.
About the ICEHOTEL
  • Accommodation: can sell out far in advance, especially for February peak dates.
  • Day visit: still very worthwhile for the ice art, museum-style displays and famous bar.
  • One-night strategy: keep checking in case even a single night becomes available.

What could you combine with Kiruna?

Jukkasjärvi

The obvious add-on for the ICEHOTEL day pass, ice-art visit and a classic Lapland detour.

Abisko

A strong option for nature lovers and aurora seekers who want even more Arctic scenery.

Narvik or the Norwegian side

Good if you want to combine Swedish Lapland with dramatic mountain and fjord landscapes.

Search Kiruna hotels with Booking.com

You are already on the deal page, so you can search hotels directly here. Compare Aurora River Camp with other options in Kiruna town, Jukkasjärvi / ICEHOTEL area and other smaller winter lodges. Recheck final price, room style, breakfast, cancellation terms and transfers before booking.

Suggested search approach: first secure a free-cancellation base in Kiruna or a nearby aurora-style lodge, then separately keep checking the ICEHOTEL for any surprise availability, even if it is only for one night.

Kiruna hotel pricing can rise sharply in winter and availability can disappear fast, especially around February Northern Lights season. The sample shown here reflected a search for 13–20 February 2027, where the lower-priced cabin option started from approximately €1,239 per week and the glass-igloo stay from approximately €3,158 per week. Always confirm the final room type, cancellation policy, transport needs, breakfast inclusion and total before paying.
