Vietnam and India -- two-country Asia trip from Vienna

Two countries, one ticket: Vietnam + India from Vienna for €468 with Air India!

September 2026

Two countries, one ticket: Vietnam + India from Vienna for €468 on Air India with cabin and 23 kg check-in baggage included — a smart multi-city itinerary that stitches together two very different Asian worlds on one efficient booking, without flying back to your starting point just to head home. Vietnam is pho mornings, lantern-lit Hoi An, Ho Chi Minh City street-food nights, and Ha Long Bay boat trips; India is the Taj Mahal, Delhi's spice-scented bazaars, Rajasthan colour, and temple towns that feel like another planet — all on a 21-to-23-night arc when you want a proper Asia deep-dive, not a rushed city break.

Routing is thoughtfully built: only the outbound leg needs a connection in Delhi (DEL) — the first journey is long, but the layover is manageable. After Vietnam, the Ho Chi Minh City → Delhi and Delhi → Vienna sectors are direct, with sensible schedules that balance price, routing, and travel time. Dino found only three confirmed date combinations in September 2026, each giving useful time in both countries: 17 Sep – 8 Oct (15 nights Vietnam + 6 India), 22 Sep – 15 Oct (14 + 8), and 24 Sep – 15 Oct (12 + 8).

Dino recommends booking directly with Air India. The cheapest OTA fare is €468, while airindia.com sells the same itinerary for €476 — only €8 more. That small saving is unlikely to justify the extra hassle if schedules change or you need airline assistance mid-trip. Build this as a multi-city ticket (Vienna → Vietnam → Delhi → Vienna); confirm exact airports, internal sector times, Vietnam and India visa or e-visa rules, and baggage on every leg before you pay.

Dino Score 8.7 out of 10

Excellent multicity value combining Vietnam and India, with baggage included and two useful direct flight sectors.

Dino Verdict

Two very different Asian countries in one well-designed trip

This multicity journey combines Vietnam and India within one efficient Air India itinerary, avoiding the need to return to the original destination before flying home.

The complete trip is available from €468 through online travel agencies, while Air India sells the same itinerary directly for €476.

With a difference of only €8, Dino recommends booking directly with Air India. The small OTA saving is unlikely to justify the additional complication if a schedule changes or assistance is required.

Cabin baggage and checked baggage are included, making this much more useful than a basic long-haul fare that permits only a small personal item.

Only the first journey requires a connection in Delhi. The flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Delhi and from Delhi to Vienna are direct, creating a practical balance between price, routing and travel time.

Price 9.4/10

€476 directly with Air India is excellent for three long-haul international sectors, two countries and baggage included.

Airline 7.8/10

Air India is a full-service airline, although aircraft condition, seating and onboard service can vary between routes.

Availability 7.4/10

Only three confirmed date combinations have been found so far, but each option provides a useful amount of time in both Vietnam and India.

Comfort 8.4/10

The first journey is long, but the Delhi connection is manageable. The following two sectors are direct and have sensible schedules.

Trip design 9.3/10

The multicity routing avoids backtracking and allows travellers to explore two very different countries within one efficient itinerary.

Baggage 9.0/10

Cabin and checked baggage are included, which is particularly valuable for a trip lasting between 21 and 23 nights.

Confirmed availability

17 September – 8 October
15 nights in Vietnam + 6 nights in India
22 September – 15 October
14 nights in Vietnam + 8 nights in India
24 September – 15 October
12 nights in Vietnam + 8 nights in India
Dino recommends booking directly with Air India

The cheapest OTA fare is €468, while the direct Air India price is €476.

For a difference of only €8, booking directly with Air India is the more sensible option, particularly for a multicity itinerary involving three separate flight sectors.

Before paying, confirm the exact cabin and checked-baggage allowance, fare-change rules, operating aircraft and that every flight is included on the same protected ticket.

Recommended option: the 24 September departure provides 12 nights in Vietnam and 8 nights in India, creating a well-balanced three-week journey.

Vietnam suggestion: spend 3–4 nights in Ho Chi Minh City, add 1–2 nights in the Mekong Delta and use the remaining time for Phu Quoc, Da Nang and Hoi An, or another part of Vietnam.

India suggestion: eight nights are enough for Delhi, Agra and Jaipur without making the final section of the trip excessively rushed.

Best for: adventurous travellers, multicity enthusiasts, couples and anyone who wants to combine Southeast Asia with India without booking separate long-haul tickets.

Less ideal for: travellers who want a short holiday, a premium airline experience or a simple single-destination itinerary.

Where to stay in Ho Chi Minh City: excellent comfort at very affordable prices

In Vietnam, comfort and affordability often go hand in hand, and Ho Chi Minh City is no exception. Travellers can find attractive, well-rated 4 and 5-star hotels with modern rooms, swimming pools and excellent facilities from around €50 per night.

When travelling as a couple, that works out at just €25 per person per night — outstanding value for a high-standard hotel in one of Southeast Asia’s most energetic cities.

Our sample search covered 25 September to 7 October. However, Vietnam offers far more than bustling city life, so it may be better to spend only part of the trip in Ho Chi Minh City and adjust the hotel dates to match your wider itinerary.

A stay of three or four nights is usually enough to explore the main sights, enjoy the food scene and take a day trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels or Mekong Delta. The remaining nights can then be used for beaches, islands, historic towns or another part of Vietnam.

Dino tip: compare hotels in areas such as District 1 for central sightseeing, District 3 for a more local atmosphere, or riverside neighbourhoods for quieter surroundings and modern properties. Always check recent reviews, room size and the exact location before booking.

Where to stay in Delhi: plenty of choice, but reviews matter

Delhi also offers an impressive range of affordable accommodation, from simple guesthouses to modern hotels with pools, restaurants and airport transfers. The number of options can make it possible to find a comfortable stay without spending heavily.

However, travellers should choose carefully. Hotel photos in India can sometimes look more impressive than the property does in reality — something Dino has experienced first-hand. A polished listing does not always guarantee the same standard on arrival.

Before booking, read recent guest reviews across more than one platform. Pay particular attention to comments about cleanliness, maintenance, noise, hot water, air conditioning, breakfast quality, the surrounding neighbourhood and whether the room received matches the advertised photos.

Our sample search covered 7 October to 15 October. Travellers planning the Golden Triangle should remember that they may not need to remain in Delhi for the entire stay. It can be better to divide the nights between Delhi, Agra and Jaipur.

For Delhi itself, areas such as Connaught Place are convenient for sightseeing, while Aerocity can be practical before or after a flight. South Delhi also offers many well-rated options, although travel times should be checked carefully because the city is extremely large.

Dino tip: avoid choosing the cheapest property based on photos alone. A hotel with consistently strong recent reviews, a slightly higher price and a reliable location can provide much better overall value.
