Palermo
from $2,846 return
About this deal
I found nonstop Business Class from Newark to Palermo from $2,846 return.
The flights are operated by United on a Boeing 767 with 1-1-1 seating,
giving every passenger direct aisle access and a full-flat seat.
My reference trip is 18–29 November 2026.
There are only two good date combinations at this level, so availability is the weak point.
The cheapest fare I found was $2,846 with Hop2 via Skyscanner.
Booking directly with United was around $3,178.73 return, a difference of about $333.
The fare conditions are better than the name Business Light might suggest:
the fare display shows 1 × 32 kg checked bag, 2 × 8 kg carry-on bags, lounge access,
fast lane where available, priority boarding and onboard catering.
The main restriction is that it is non-refundable, and changes cost $500 plus any fare difference.
Typical nonstop schedule
Newark 21:45 → Palermo 12:20+1
United-operated Boeing 767 · Business Class
Nonstop · 8h35
Full-flat seat, 1-1-1 layout and direct aisle access for every passenger.
Palermo 14:20 → Newark 18:50
United-operated Boeing 767 · Business Class
Nonstop · 10h30
No European connection, no positioning flight and no overnight transit.
Fare and product details
The fare display includes lounge access, security fast lane where available, priority boarding,
onboard catering, 1 × 32 kg checked baggage and 2 × 8 kg carry-ons.
The restrictions are the important part: refunds are not allowed and rebooking costs
$500 per passenger plus any fare difference.
I found only two date combinations at this level. That is why Availability scores just 4.8/10 despite the excellent routing.
Booking options
This is the lowest price I found. The saving versus United direct is about $333, so it is meaningful enough to show rather than automatically dismiss.
Check the Hop2 fare →Around $333 more when checked. The advantage is having the ticket directly with the operating airline if you need help with changes or disruption.
Compare the direct fare →This is genuinely limited availability rather than a fare with dozens of easy alternatives.
The routing and seat are excellent: nonstop in both directions, full-flat 1-1-1 Business Class and proper premium-ground benefits. The only major weakness is that I found just two usable dates at this price.

Palermo hotel guide
The reference trip arrives in Palermo on 19 November 2026 and flies home on 29 November, giving you 10 hotel nights. I would not spend all ten in one place. Palermo deserves several nights, but this trip is long enough to add another part of Sicily without rushing.
I would start by locking in a good free-cancellation hotel in Palermo, keep Karma active, and only then decide whether to add Cefalù, Trapani, Agrigento or another part of Sicily.
💰 Dino hotel booking method
Palermo changes a lot from one neighbourhood to another. I would choose the part of the city I want to be in before comparing individual hotels.
Once you find a room you like, let Karma check whether another seller has the same room for less. Keep cancellation terms and meal plan in view.
Compare the final total again before paying. For this trip I would rather keep a refundable booking than save a small amount and lose flexibility.
⏳ How many nights would I stay in Palermo?
Enough for the historic centre, markets, major churches and one evening wandering the old streets.
This gives you time for Palermo itself plus an easy day trip without turning the stay into a checklist.
With this much time, I would combine Palermo with at least one other Sicilian base.
I would be back in Palermo the night before the 14:20 flight so departure day stays simple.
📍 Best areas to stay in Palermo
Best if you want to walk to the main historic sights, markets and old-town streets. This is the easiest first choice for a short stay.
Atmospheric, central and full of character, with restaurants, bars and beautiful streets close to the waterfront.
A little more polished and residential, with good transport and plenty of restaurants. A strong option if you prefer a calmer base.
Better for a beach-style stay than a city break. In late November I would normally stay central and visit Mondello rather than base the whole trip there.
🌎 What I would do with the other nights
The easiest add-on from Palermo. Good for one or two nights if you want a smaller coastal town and a slower pace.
A good western-Sicily base if you want old towns, coastal scenery and something very different from Palermo.
Worth adding if the Valley of the Temples is high on your list. I would stay overnight rather than force it into a very long day trip.
If you do not want to move hotels, ten nights can still work with day trips — but I would personally split the stay.
⚠️ Palermo practical survival kit
If you are staying in the historic centre, I would collect a rental car only when leaving the city. Parking and restricted-traffic zones can make central driving more hassle than help.
Palermo is a destination where I would avoid paying a large hotel breakfast supplement unless the reviews are excellent.
You can get better-value rooms than in summer, but some coastal places will feel much quieter. That can be a positive if you prefer fewer crowds.
For Palermo itself, I would rather take a simpler hotel in the right area than a nicer property far from the historic centre.
Palermo is easy to explore independently, but food tours, guided market walks and day trips can be worth booking if you want more context or do not want to organise transport yourself.
