This is not a typical luxury international hotel chain — it is a smaller, more personal property with a relaxed guesthouse-style feel, a garden setting and swimming pools.
For the reference 10–19 November stay, the cheapest room shown was only €274 total for 2 adults — approximately €137 per person for 9 nights. Combined with the €571 Economy Light flight fare, that puts the reference flight + hotel at around €708 per person before food, transfers and activities.
Arcadia Resort is the kind of property I would look at if the priority is keeping the total Sri Lanka trip affordable without dropping to a poorly reviewed hotel. It is a smaller property rather than a large resort chain, so the appeal is more about value, friendly service, a personal atmosphere and a convenient base than luxury branding.
The property has a 9.1/10 guest score from 398 reviews in the supplied booking search. Guests also rate the location highly, and the listing shows Hikkaduwa Beach around a 7-minute walk away, Hikkaduwa Railway Station approximately 500 metres away and the bus stand within a short walk.
Facilities shown include 2 swimming pools, free Wi-Fi, family rooms, free parking, room service and a 24-hour front desk. Breakfast is highly rated by guests, although the cheapest €274 room shown in the reference search does not include breakfast.
For travellers who plan to explore rather than spend all day inside a hotel, this is exactly the type of property that can make sense: save the money on the room and spend it on experiences, transport and food instead.
Hikkaduwa
These are the prices shown for 10–19 November · 9 nights · 2 adults · 1 room. Hotel prices can move quickly, so use them as a reference rather than a guaranteed future price.
You certainly can if the goal is a simple beach holiday, but with nine nights in Sri Lanka I think a 2- or 3-hotel itinerary is worth considering. The island has enough variety that combining the south coast with the hill country gives you a much broader trip without turning every day into a transfer day.
5 nights Hikkaduwa + 3 nights Ella + 1 night Negombo / airport area.
This gives you proper beach time, a completely different hill-country experience and a stress-free final night before the 09:30 flight home.
Visit Galle as a day trip from Hikkaduwa rather than adding a fourth hotel.
7 nights Hikkaduwa + 2 nights Negombo / Colombo area.
Best if you mainly want beach time and do not want long overland transfers.
Use Hikkaduwa for south-coast day trips, then move closer to the airport for the end of the trip.
9 nights Hikkaduwa.
Absolutely reasonable if the aim is to relax.
Arcadia Resort's low accommodation cost makes this especially attractive for travellers who prefer one base and independent day trips.
They are close enough that changing hotels adds packing and check-in time without giving you a dramatically different region. I would keep Hikkaduwa as the base and visit Galle during the day.
November is a transitional month in Sri Lanka. The south-west coast is moving into its more favourable beach season, but October–November is also the second inter-monsoon period, so heavy showers and unsettled spells are still possible. I would not build a November itinerary that depends on nine consecutive perfect beach days — another reason why mixing Hikkaduwa with an inland or hill-country stop can work well.
